I had a debate with some lasses in college about men's rights and jesus christ. why do people instantly turn sour at the words mens rights? I said that circumcision should be a choice and babies shouldnt be circumsised. Their counterargument was that people do it for religious reasons and also it looks better and is cleaner. I literally played devil advocate using their logical fallacies to be pro female genital mutilation in hopes they would understand the pure irony and hypocrisy but no. everytime I brought up something that men have to deal with they made it about women or the fact that men are in power so I cant complain. Just because men are in power doesnt mean they look out for other men. I said to them men are drafted to fight wars and they said to me well at least you get to fight wars. I said to them you wouldnt want to. I wouldnt want to. Somehow everything is a fault of the patriarchy even when women have the advantage. When its something bad or good for women its a result of the patriarchy. When men have something bad happen to them its a fault of the patriarchy and therefore of them. That was their point. But they were absolutely not okay with FGM but are okay with circumcision because it looks better. They talk about men controlling women but really its the other way around. I was told to censcor my opinions because some girls complained about me but I couldnt give a fuck. I literally used their logical fallacies and strawman arguments they were using and reversed the roles to show them their hypocrisy. They didnt get that so i tried using facts and figures but all they do is start shouting so they dont have to respond with an actual well thought out argument. They were trying to say that 99% of domestic abuse victims are women. They also claimed its because of the patriarchy thats why women always get the kids in custody split and apparently this is somehow sexist towards them. I showed them figures from my country where it is a 2:1 split female:male domestic abuse victims. Then also the statistics where 99.2% of shelters are for just women but they were trying to claim that men have just as many. They tried to make it seem like I was being sexist as soon as their terrible arguments were exposed by me. I fucken hate modern society sometimes. people attach way too much ego to their shitty opinions
