My old Group Scout Leader, when it was the big thing to allow girls into Scouting here in UK, had a very simple reply. 'What are Girl Guides doing wrong, if all the girls want to join Scouts.'

Freedom of choice. If young girls or boys would rather join group a than group b its up to group b to adapt.

Maybe look at why you are losing 'customers' to your competitor and adjust the product you offer.

I went to scouts as a kid and my sister guides and she was often jealous that we got to do more 'fun' activities while she got taught how to make decorations and cookies.

Holy shit imagine how much easier this would be if the Girl Scouts just allowed boys into their group. That way any child can choose what group they belong in most. Instead, Girl Scouts just need to be the victim and simply won’t follow the trend.

I'm a 12 year old girl. When I was little, I joined the girl scouts. I changed troups 2 years later and stayed in this troup for 4 or 5 years now, and even after all these years I can't even remember anyone's name. But only 2 years ago I joined the boy scouts, where I had a few troubles in the beginning but soon made friends. I overall had much more fun in the boy scouts and I am considering leaving the girl scouts. The girl scouts were made because the boy scouts didn't allow girl. That's not really a problem anymore. So... Girl scouts really needs to up its game.

Maybe it's time for a massive shake-up of these two organizations, as they have become too top heavy and political since their inception.

There is no good reason why Girls and Boys (or, Boys and Girls) can't cross learn from each other.

There is as much real value to learning to cook as there is in learning to set up a camp.

I called years in advance. When you give women your hand they will complain that "if you can give me your arm then you can lend me your arm so now I would like your arm".

Nothing is never enough for them. They created their Girls scouts that they could have rule how they wanted but their thing wasn't as shiny as the Boys so they fought to be included when they inverse is Impossible. Then It's not enough now they want to be favored in something they weren't even suppose to be part of.

Former eagle scout here. Boy scouts do more high impact activities. Turns out, girls like doing the same thing as well. The GSA focuses a lot on leadership and empowering females. Which sounds great but it doesn't appeal to young girls. They want to do the camping and shotgun shooting as well. The GSA is dying becuase they lack appeal. The BSA had to increase their membership after the Mormon church dumped them becuase...they were tolerant to the LGBT community.

Girl Scouts have always let boys in their group. Boy Scouts only started doing this recently when sued to let girls in. Then Boy Scouts gets hit with all the allegations of sexual abuse and their enrollment numbers plummet. Boy Scouts then decide to be vague in their enrollment process so that parent don't realize they are signing up their kids for the organization that is currently being sued for sexual abuse over the past several decades.

Ok people are having some confusion here, and rightfully so. Here is my take on this, a little different than the echo chamber that this comment section is: Liberal women made a plee to BSA a few yeard ago, stating that women should be able to join BSA. The argument being that BSA offered a physically harder experience and a better reward at the end. The BSA didn't want this, but was eventually allowed girls into cub scouts, then later allowed them into boyscouts. Now, to this lawsuit. The right-wing GSA sees a lot of women going into BSA because it is a better program, and decides that it is unfair. They know they will lose to any compitition, so they are trying to sue for their monopoly over XX gender back. This is not the same women being bipolar, this is the rich wanting to stay rich, and the left fighting the right, with men being caught in the middle.
