As a Muslim who's travelled a fair bit, i can say with a degree of confidence that places in the Middle East that are actually bad for women would be Saudi, Yemen, Egpyt(in more recent years) and Iraq(specifically after it got bombed to shit). The absolute worst place though is Afghanistan, though it aint in the ME but you get my point.

Most people outside the ME have no idea that women run the show in many Middle Eastern nations, at home especially. Hell many of these nations have had more women in actual power than many nations in the West. Im not saying its all fine and dandy, no, these places are still conservative no question, hell im from Singapore where Muslims are a minority but even here its still conservative overall.

What Karen pointed out is on point. Women throughout history have always been a protected species. Its men who are cannon fodder.

Edit: To summarize, the Middle East is nowhere near as male dominated as Westerners seem to think, women have a lot more power, sway and influence than people think. Of course you have your fair share of pure chauvinistic male dominance in some areas, but that is shockingly the minority rather than the majority. It looks like that on the surface, but actually isn't.

People constantly forget that greater privilege also implies greater responsibility. With the tragic part being that's always the people that desire more privilege the ones that have no sense of responsibility at all.

As a well knowledgeable Muslim (although fairy irreligious)who’s been traveling throughout his life, women are usually the power yielding force behind every family. I’ve heard of my father growing up in poverty and starvation because of the woman my grandfather married after my grandmothers death, she would manage the money he earned abroad... my mom had more say than anyone in my immediate family and forced my dad to sponsor her sister’s education in london when we ourselves were not well off to begin with at the time. When a woman in Muslim household makes up her mind, there’s no changing it. I was a kid and I didn’t like her sister from the beginning, I told her she would be betrayed by everyone’s he’s fighting for, she didn’t listen. Years later she regrets what she did. Tbh Islam’s soft roles with huge power for women and high responsibilities with minimal rights for men is one of the reason that turned me from the religion.

The domestic sphere is a very powerful one and can influence and change society in huge ways. Women raise the children, influence their values, manners, how they react to certain things and how they behave, that’s already a very powerful force, so that plus mom groups, women gossiping, etc is pretty influential thing in society.

But I forgot, in feminist land if she’s not commanding armies and isn’t the CEO of a mega corporation (Even though feminist supposedly hate capitalism) it isn’t actual power.

What's really funny is that the old paradigm of "Men rule the world and women rule men" somehow wasn't enough for feminists - women got to enjoy all the power without having to do any of the work, so now they want those levels of wealth and power DIRECTLY, without having to qualify for a man's attention.

But those levels of wealth and power aren't just handed to you, and that's what feminists want. They don't understand that men enjoy certain levels of social leverage by being society's protectors and providers. If women could step up and shoulder a man's responsibility, they wouldn't HAVE to ask for those privileges, because they'd have created that power for themselves.

perhaps the most brain dead video i've seen in a long time. she completely disregards the agency and power that comes to having the ability to work outside of the house. the man can leave the woman, if he wanted, the woman is completely dependent on the man or her family.
