Senator: Why not? That information is available.

The reason why they don't have the data is because it is entirely illegal for men and women to get paid differently for the same job in Australia. The reason why people thought their was a gender pay gap was because men generally work higher paying industries and work more.

Reality is, if you want a high paying job, work as a plumber, boiler maker etc and not childcare (which is a theoretically capped wage, and a collapsed industry right now that only survives off government incentives). And is also women-dominated and more or less an unskilled job (requires a basic tafe course).

If they really want to see if there is a pay gap or not, they should be willing to take the data in the most objective way possible.

Coupled with #metoo, women will be out of the workforce because they require the same pay for less hours worked. The risk of false HR complaints will also plummet if women were out of the workforce.

The problem here isn't as much that she didn't provide proper research or statistics. The problem is that the feminist group has a devotion to the idea that women are paid less than men, and will argue that no matter what the data says.

If they had taken the criticism of their data and said, "That is a great point. I hadn't thought about that discrepancy. That is an area we could improve on in our future research." Sure, she would have lost some ground in the argument, but she would have spared their reputation as a competent researcher.

People need to learn to concede during debate, and change their opinions when confronted with valid evidence that refutes their beliefs.

In the warehouse where I worked, women there refused to pickup any heavy parts or packages and they are being paid the same as a men. After a recent shuffle, there are now more women in the warehouse than men. Guess what? None of them bothered to do any heavy lifting. They always talk really loud when they work though, to let the manager hear they are working.

This is stupid. This analysis has been done, at least in the US. When the number of hours worked is accounted for the gap decreases. It doesn’t disappear, but it goes down. If they would simply acknowledge that the gap is not as great as has been claimed in the past they would get a lot more traction. Right now it’s just too easy to point out the shitty math and say “tHe PaY gAP iS a MyTh”. It’s not, it’s just not as big as claimed.
