Can someone explain me what's exactly the logic of that "putting toilet seat down" thing ?

Traditionally the complaint has been from women that men leave the toilet seat up. This means that a woman has to touch the toilet seat or sits directly on the bowl because they did not realize the seat was up.

Men were fine with this argument in the cultural times where men held open doors, pulled out chairs, and stood up when women entered the room.

Those days are gone. We now have “equality”.

Men now see it as a ridiculous request. A toilet seat being left down is an inconvenience to men who have to touch the seat to put it up. Women have equality so they are considered to have at least the basic intelligence to not sit on a toilet before checking the elevation of the seat. Out of common courtesy women have just as much responsibility to leave the seat up as men do to leave it down.

It's part of the women are cleaner than men myth. They don't want to touch our "mess". Yet, my bathroom is the only one she'll let guests use - since her bathroom is about as sanitary as a bum's nutsack.

Really everyone men and women both, should be putting the lid down. 1) It makes everyone equal, which is what feminists want. 2) it stops debris in water being carried up on flush and spreading particulates around the bathroom, including your toothbrush

As a girl, this never made sense to me. Why would you not look at what you're about to sit on? Do other girls back up to the toilet and hope that it goes well? If guys should put the seat down, should I be putting it up if I know a guy is using it next? I'm washing my damn hands when I'm done anyways, why is it a problem to touch the toilet seat? What happens if someone has completely closed it? Who do I yell at for that one?

Seriously it makes no fucking sense.

Jokes a side. It's important to close the toilet before flushing. Otherwise tons of bacteria can go airbone. So it's important.

I live in an earthquake area and have had to fish one too many items out of the toilet. In my house, I'M the one who tells others to put seat and lid down.

It's in everyone's best interest to cover the big bowl of water on the floor.

A couple of reasons, flushing with the lid up actually causes fecal matter to atomize and spread across you, your clothes, you bathroom and your tooth brush. Secondly, none wants to walk into your bathroom and see shit stuck to the side of your toilet... well almost no one.

I think I remember Mythbusters doing a segment on fecal matter getting on toothbrushes if you keep the lid up when you flush. As a woman, I want the lid down, not because I'm gonna fall into the toilet in the middle of the night but because it's gross having water droplets on the seat and everywhere else if you flush with the lid up. Plus seeing shit stuck to the side of the toilet when I first walk into the bathroom is extra gross too.

The seat and lid should be closed after use. It looks better and everyone has to touch it to use it. If you manage to pee on the lid you shouldn’t be allowed to use indoor plumbing. Pee in the woods like the animal you are.

As a woman, it's mainly because I was taught that when you flush the toilet, germs get everywhere.

My toothbrush is in the bathroom. I'd prefer minimal germs on my toothbrush, therefore I request that everyone- even the females- put the entire lid down to flush, not just the seat. It's not an equality thing in my eyes, I don't know why everyone is making it one.

And if I ever fall into the toilet cause there's no seat it's my own damn fault, and I'm an idiot.

That's why I pee in the sink.

It's easier, and I use the water to clean my penis afterwards, which is more hygenic than paper and way better than nothing.

Women don't want to be responsible for looking at the toilet and perhaps placing the seat down before they sit down on the toilet, so they demand men always pick up the seat and then place it back down when they pee.

Even worse, women seeking to emasculate men will make the demand that men sit always sit when they pee.

From my understanding, it is a benefit for both sexes because I'm sure a guy doesn't appreciate almost falling in when he has to take a dump just as much as a girl wouldn't like slipping into the bowl when she has to pee (and she has to sit every time). So, make your own judgement but to be honest it's just easier for everyone (and it looks nicer) when the toilet seat is put down.

Are you stupid? The logic is that women sit down to pee. In doing so if the seat is up they literally sit down into the water/bowl. Just like you would if you sat down to poop and the seat was up. Since the seat is down for all their needs, and since it’s down for half of your needs, and since the seat is only up because some guys can’t help but piss all over it then it stands to reason that it should be down the majority of times.

Asking little boys to put the seat down is very dangerous. A little boy can do things like that in the wrong order, putting the seat down before putting away their penis, thus the seat can come down on or graze his penis. Some boys have had serious damage done as a result. I believe this is why the seats on public toilets have a gap in the front.
