I guess that's why millions of women get marched off to die for their countries. Because they're so tough and strong.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 44 points45 points46 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Also why as a "minority", they need safe spaces.

[–]JestyerAverageJoe 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And why they get less prison time for the same crimes, and Hillary Clinton wanted to reduce that time even more. Because of the toughness.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Also why they get DV and homeless shelters and not men.

Because they're tough enough to fight their own battles and fend for themselves on the streets.

[–]JestyerAverageJoe 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And why men are unilaterally responsible for ending rape. Because women are powerful.

[–]hannibal-bashir 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

and thats why they are attracted to guys with big muscles, cuz women don't need to feel protected by their men

[–]mrmagoalt1235 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What the fuck is wrong with you like actually go fuck yourself

More evidence that feminism is sexism and the the media has an entrenched sexist culture.

[–]torsmork 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Want to have some fun?

Ask a feminist in person if they are more of a 2nd or a 3rd/4th wave feminist and ask them to explain why that is.

Most of them haven't even looked into the ideologies they say they support and are a part of.

Most of them will crumble in cognitive dissonance by the mere questions their heads can't answer. Keep asking questions with curiosity for more reactions. I promise you some very interesting answers to say the least.

LOL! Let's start throwing women into the men's UFC fights, then! And while we are at it, let's desegregate all sport. We'll see just how strong and tough the girlies are then. As for lapses in judgement like WWI, i'm pretty sure most men had nothing to do with starting that.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's like the author didn't understand she was talking about a fictional character.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So it's far more heinous for a woman to be violent towards men than for men to hit women, right? Because as it is, when a man hits a woman back all of a sudden "but women are weaker; men shouldn't hit back!" and when women abuse men "but women are weaker, so it's not as bad!"

In short women are superior, except when it benefits them to be weak, delicate, oppressed victims. Otherwise, if they're so tough they might as well be the ones expected to die in wars and die/be permanently injured on dangerous jobs

Go ahead, draft women instead of men; encourage women instead of men to take life-threatening jobs so men don't have to. It doesn't bother me at all

[–]EricAllonde 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because as it is, when a man hits a woman back all of a sudden "but women are weaker; men shouldn't hit back!"

This is often a way that movie villains establish their evil credentials: they show themselves to be bad, nasty scumbags who totally deserve to be killed later in the movie...by hitting a woman.

Yep, as soon as you see a man hit a woman in a movie you immediately know:

a) he's the villain; and

b) he's going to be killed, most likely by the white knight hero, before the end of the movie.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So it's far more heinous for a woman to be violent towards men than for men to hit women, right? Because as it is, when a man hits a woman back all of a sudden "but women are weaker; men shouldn't hit back!" and when women abuse men "but women are weaker, so it's not as bad!"

As far as this article is concerned, Wonder Woman is being hailed as "badass" for fighting regular soldiers. The difference in physical strength between a normal man and a normal woman is absolutely nothing compared to the difference in strength between a normal man and Wonder Woman, so while I like the character, this is hardly a good example to highlight her "badassness".

[–]game_r17 points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Women in modern society are so safe that they have no clue how weak they actually are.

[–]eclectro 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So if the rule of law were suddenly gone then suddenly they're seeking out the "patriarchy" instead of their own personal weapons stash!

[–]fengpi 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess that must be why they take more sick days at work.

[–]TheUser421 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I laugh when people have to declare their strong. If you're so strong then why declare it ? Just prove it in your everyday life in a humble way.

[–]Lethn 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well it doesn't even have to be 'humble' just show it, actions speak louder than words. There are all kinds of ways modern science can measure your actual strength now, it wasn't the best documentary out there on martial arts I've seen but it was interesting as the science was solid. There was this show called fight science I came across awhile back and it actually measured the speed and power of each technique.

So yeah, whenever you see someone trash talking like that just ask them to get hooked up to a machine so we can measure the actual force and speed of their punches and kicks rather than letting them get away with mouthing off and then running away.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep fight science. Great show

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Quite liked this one :D

https://youtu.be/TB2pKxwQqlg?t=677

So yeah internet feminists, get out a measuring device and something extremely tough to break or fuck off.

Do you mean like the big strong "alpha males" on this subreddit god you incels are a fucking joke

[–]iongantas 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Oh, this is about Wonder Woman?

Funny thing is, she's technically not even human and also therefore not actually a woman. And when I say 'not human', I don't mean, 'an alien species' like Superman. I mean, she is basically a Golem.

[–]hork23 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"I mean, she is basically a Golem."

So she's jewish?

[–]JestyerAverageJoe 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No fuckface, she's really into Hobbit rings.

[–]iongantas 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, she's made of clay. Like Adam from Kung-Fu.

[–]Maschalismos -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No, she is the goddess Diana (maiden of the hunt)). You are right, though, In that she is super-human.

[–]iongantas 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Per Wikipedia: Wonder Woman's origin story relates that she was sculpted from clay by her mother Queen Hippolyta and given life by Aphrodite.

[–]Maschalismos 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Dangit. You are right: I stand corrected. But then why do her teammates call her 'Diana'? Why do they refer to her as a goddess? Agh.

[–]subzero_600 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The original origin story has her being made from clay. That has been updated a couple of times to have her being the daughter of Zeus. She is more along the line of a Demigod. With the Amazon's being blessed by the gods to be stronger than regular humans, she is practically at the level of a God.

[–]iongantas 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she is practically at the level of a God

Much like Superman.

[–]LedZeppelin1602 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

What annoys me about this movie is Wonder Woman basically goes around slashing up only men yet in male-led superhero movies the male hero isn't even allowed to slap a villainess, they get a female hero to come in to fight her (The Wolverine, Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Batman & Robin) because it's not acceptable to show a male hero fighting a woman but if it's a female hero decimating the men it perfectly fine.

I hate that double standard

It's like on Vine and Instagram some female "comedians" like Lele Pons regularly do skits where they suspect their boyfriend is cheating and start acting crazy and hitting him or smashing up his shit and it's played for laughs in a "I'm just a passionate Latina" way that excuses it.

Yet there's never a skit about a guy suspecting his girlfriend of such cheating hitting her and smashing up her shit because that would be considered advocating and excusing domestic abuse and violence against women and the comedian would be raked over the coals.

Culture plays a big part in how Male victims of domestic abuse are ignored or marginalised.

And movies like this where she's hacking away at men with impunity encourage the disposability of men and minimises female on male abuse

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It pretty much goes w/o saying that all the villains are white males in movies- especially if the hero is female. So much for "diversity"

[–]eclectro 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the thing about this movie. If this movie was honest, then the main villian would have been a woman, and not a man. Maybe there needs to be a petition that they sequel have that??

[–]Erudite_Delirium 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women are tougher and stronger than men...so we've decided to remove gender categories in MMA...oh and give women a 10kg weight disadvantage since they are already tougher and stronger.

Come celebrate equality!!

[–]kingofthehill5 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah that would be unfair against men. They are so weak and unintelligent /s

The amount of required empowerment for girls and women is so counter-productive because it advertises that men are strong without the need for encouragement or placating whereas women need all that support to be equals

They basically say that women are weak and thus need empowerment

[–]guntermench43 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Think they'll add the bit from the comics where if her arms are held together by a man she loses every ounce of her power?

[–]eclectro 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, don't some of the comics get into the backstory of how the Amazons raped, then murdered the men and sold all their male children into slavery?? Details, details....

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am honestly curious if she can change a tire or open a jar of pickles.

Women are better equipped to rule because women are more caring than men.

Margaret Hilda Thatcher, anyone? Indira Ghandi? Queen Mary the First?

[–]hannibal-bashir 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

queens waged more wars than kings

http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2016/01/european-queens-waged-more-wars-than-kings.html

actually if you watch any match from violent sports such as boxing or MMA, you will notice a huge amount of female fans

so much for women being the bringers of peace and anti-violence

[–]soparamens 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When you think that a supermodel bodied, emaciated looking Gal Gadot is a role model for women, you need to check your standards ASAP.

Gal Gadot was chosen for the role because whe would appeal to US male audiences, who like this kind of supermodel body (no hips, no body fat, bony legs) not because she can be "tougher and stronger than any men" (she can't) or because she has ANY martial arts habilities (needed for this kind of role) but because she can be a decorative object for men to enjoy. In a time in wich women's MMA is getting as popular as men's, i would have expected someone Like Gina Carano - still super hot, but strong and fierce - not like someone who Karl Laggerfeld approves.

[–]LedZeppelin1602 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The subconscious mind of the typical male moviegoer is crammed with heroic images of tough guys fighting for truth, justice and the American way.

Er that's because it's mostly men who fight for such things, women rarely risk their safety so of course the majority of action heroes will be men.

Females, still fighting for equal treatment in society, don’t see nearly as many tales of their own sex’s valor

Oh really? The majority of unequal treatment is in women's favour at when men recieve no such beneficial unequal treatment that prioritises them over women

“Wonder Woman,” based on the DC Comics character, looks destined to change the script. Critics are raving, and box-office projections look big. We caught a preview and loved it.

Fake news talk from the experts.

It looks destined to change the script (but it hasn't yet, nevermind).

Critics are raving, but not the target audience. We need to wait a bit to see what happens there.

Box-office projections are just that: fantasies of the future.

I wonder if the editorial writer caught a preview, or whether he attended as a condition of continued employment. Note my use of the inclusive "he". "He" might even be one of the sex-restricted class entitled to see some previews. I wonder whether the clever guys at Fake News Advertising noted the success of The Red Pill following all those attempts to ban it. The clever guys never miss a trick.

[–]eclectro 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My guess is that many women will go see it amid all the hype, but will men bother to see it two/three weeks from now?? amidst the other big summer releases?

[–]littlegreenrock 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A tough, strong, female role model.

[–]Notyobabydaddy[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lagertha is the SHIT! She will kick your ass not because she's a strong woman, but because she's a strong character.

In the excellent big-budget action film, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” a small band of good guys must save the day. They have gumption but wouldn’t make it out of the second reel alive without Steven and his sword, shield and heart. He’s got superhuman fighting skills and the ability to deflect bullets with his bracelets shield . Go ahead and call him a badass. He’s earned it.

Funny how this can apply to other superheroes, too.

[–]BaileysBaileys 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Valid point. As a feminist-MRA, this one I'm sometimes guilty of myself. It's just sometimes too enticing to think we're not actually weaker, because that's just not a nice thing to know about oneself. Makes me feel somehow 'of more worth' to think this. But it's not good (and not necessary of course, because there's no shame in being weaker).

[–]fmlom 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol. And shit is good to eat.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The movie was actually okay and not man hatey at all, but the nontroversies and rhetoric around it is as toxic as you'd expect

[–]eclectro 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except there is that whole part on how Amazons came to be a single gender civilization.

[–]hannibal-bashir 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

some say that "giving birth is the living proof the women have higher pain tolerance, cuz men will not be able to endure it"

but how the hell did it become a proof, did any of you witness a man giving birth to claim men cannot endure it ??

here is a better test for pain tolerence, let me punch a woman in her face and lets see how she will endure it better than men

[–]Funcuz 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Blah, blah, blah.

Really. If women were anywhere near as tough and strong as men, you'd see football leagues full of women beating the shit out of each other and crowds of people.

There's no room for hate in this world, much less this movement. Women are not inherently enemies any more than men are. People who hate others because of their sex or their race or anything else are assholes who hurt our cause and spread misinformation.

Anyone who wants to fight for men is a friend of mine. :-)

[–]BaileysBaileys 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's nice, thank you :) we probably will have our differences, but I always remember these things :) And completely agree. I'm sure the MRA movement will grow just as big as the feminist movement in the future. I'm not sure it is possible not to let the crazy people define the movement, as happened with feminism, but let us try.

[–]JestyerAverageJoe 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We probably will have our differences. I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. It's how people act that's ultimately important, not how they think.
