I give the same question I give anyone who argues that the gender gap exists.

Why doesn't companies just hire women only then? Why aren't the women taking over the job market if they get paid less? As a owned of a company, you want to take advantage of that loophole, no? Since women do just as good a job as men after all, right?

I first read the title as "Maddow: 'The gender wage gap' is the most persistent disinformation...", and thought "Damn! Good on her!". Then I saw it was Maddox. It would be nice to have a nationally-known liberal lesbian shoot down the wage gap myth, but her feminist sisters would disown her.

The funny part is that the same people who whine about the wage gap are often also the ones who whine about how evil corporations will do anything for profit. I think they want to believe it because it makes it easier to maintain their victim complex. If you can't blame everything on "the patriarchy" or some other unseen force you have no control over, then you have to actually be an adult and take responsibility for your life.

I understand that the initial study was flawed and it does not accurately represent wage differences between genders, but could a gender gap still exist between men and women that work the same positions for the same amount of time?
