At the Idyllwild International Film Festival, a festival set up by film makers for film makers, the red pill has blown away the barriers. It is the first documentary film to win the prestigious Best In Festival Award
The film also was recognised for "Excellence in Directing" and "Excellence in Producing".
There is going to be a frenzy updating the artwork for the 07 March 2017 release of the film on DVD and BluRay. I'd hate to be the one having to wrangle that puppy with the current deadlines. The Print Bill is going to be high and nerves will be frayed.
It's plain obvious that people need to start mentioning that within the Film Industry "The Red Pill" is being seen as the best film of the year.
All Tugg material for any and all events now needs to make it clear that this is not just as Film - It's an Award Winner, and the people who make the films say so.
Don't just tell folks that It's a film about men's issues - it's now a certified Best Film, Awarded Some of the highest honours in the Industry, and it just happens to be about men's issues.
Role on Friday 07 March 2017, and don't forget that 08 March is International Women's Day. I wonder what questions the media will be asking this year?

On the contrary, the mindshare and marketshare of this festival don't matter in the slightest. There was decent competition, and Cassie bested them all and took two other awards.
She won on merit but more than that, the judges had the guts to give public recognition to a politically controversial film. Both are huge achievements in their own right.

I think it's fair to call it 'historical' because the relative obscurity etc of the festival doesn't detract from the fact that this is the first time anybody, obscure or well-known, has been willing to give any sort of official recognition to material that deals with men's rights.
I'd love to know what the Oscars' judges privately thought of it. There is more support in Hollywood for this sort of thing than you might imagine, but nobody dares say anything publicly for fear of reprisals and risk to livelihood. You're going to have to take my word for that, because my exact reasons for saying that were disclosed in confidence.
The rest of it, yeah, pretty much hyperbole.
Why is the age of the fest significant? If anything, a young fest has more to lose by screening, much less recognising, a controversial film like TRP because it is more vulnerable to attacks on its reputation.
No, not to the extent that anybody saw the competing films, but a cursory glance at the competition on IIFC's website suggests a significant degree of professionalism involved.
Sure, because it's obscure. Nobody from the big smoke sent a reporter out there, either because it's remote or because MSM didn't calculate it of interest to the public or because they simply didn't know about it.
But others in the film industry certainly do, given the number of films in the race. If this is a 'fest for fellow film-makers first and foremost, it's unsurprising it garnered little press and it hints at a very high standard of both entries and judging, making the 'best of festival' award even more significant. It also lends some credibility to the claim that it's an industry award rather than a politicised celeb-fest like the Oscars has become (or always was).
If it were widely known that TRP was going to show there, the chances of it even being shown might have been drastically reduced, never mind the likelihood of taking awards.

Granted, but I think the political element of The Red Pill is sufficiently significant that this case sets it apart from other controversial documentaries. How many of them, for example, have been subject to protests and shut-downs because of pressure brought to bear by politically powerful groups?
Of course, I do recognise that I am biased in respect of TRP.
Fair enough. I agree it is not so unique in such broad respect. A little hyperbolic, maybe, but I don't fundamentally disagree with describing it as an historic achievement. It's just not uniquely historic.

Sure, TRP's entry is promotional, but so it is with every other film. And yet she still bested them. I wonder what it costs to submit a film? I looked, but couldn't find any information. I would imagine that it would be reasonably costly to discourage time-wasters.
Not in and of itself, no. But equally, obscurity doesn't automatically make a 'fest irrelevant or worthless. There's no question that an IIFC award doesn't carry the weight or prestige of an Oscar, but nor does it carry no weight at all. That's all I was saying.
There's been trouble enough in the UK, and if you recall, Village Voice, the same publication that wrote such a dire review of TRP wouldn't even take money for a small ad, they hated it so much. Had Village Voice anything to say about it, TRP would never have been accepted either for consideration for the Oscars or Idyllwild.
I've not heard that, but I've had no reason to (this is not my area of interest or expertise).

The other red pills get mention at the end giving a brief explanation of them and saying it's not associated with that.
It's awkward cause what do you do when extremist hijack a word or phrase? Is it better to abandon that pay of the language or do you want people to use context to realize your using it differently.
