Just tell the cashier that you are a woman. They cannot verify that because it's a medical question which would make the question itself illegal. If they refuse to give you the discount that's a super quick lawsuit.

The owner isn't dumb.. At least not in the way they're being made out to be. They know that the main people shopping there are women, so their tax on men won't really affect their revenue stream. It's just a publicity stunt to drive in more women customers by showing how female friendly they are.

They are betting on having an influx of customers large enough to offset their losses covering the tax. Honestly, this will go on for a couple weeks and get removed since it was only a "promotion" and not a change in policy. And by that point, they are hoping they would have created a net-increase in their customer base.

The area where they are in fact stupid is how this is blatant sexism. And they are leaving themselves wide open to lawsuits from transexuals/identifiers. All-in-all, it really doesn't matter.

So she is punishing male customers instead of the actual companies selling the products. And I bet she sells some of those products marked up to women in her shop. If she wanted to do it correctly she would sell the female products that are marked up at a 7% discount. Oh wait, but that would effect her bottom line. I hope men stop shopping here and they see a decline in revenue.
