No they don't. For one thing this sub tries very hard to push the narrative that women lie about rape and domestic violence far more often than they really do, which is especially fucked since nobody intelligent actually questions that sexual assault is under reported.

And kind of a wider problem in society at large is that stupid people are all coddled and fed a bunch of BS so they never have to come face to face with the fact that they're stupid. And yes, it happens in feminism too. Lena Dunham for instance gets to pretend that she's hated on because of misogyny and not because she's an idiot. Paul Feig gets to pretend his Ghostbusters movie bombed because of misogyny and not because it was an idiotic idea. And posters here get to pretend they're not creepy weirdos because feminazis are ruining everything. You see it in all sorts of different areas. Nobody is willing to take personal responsibility for anything anymore. It's like how you'll see all sorts of people bitch and moan about how a robot took over their job, without ever wondering whether they should have had a skill set beyond menial labor. Or fat people who blame genetics instead of the fact that they eat like shit and don't exercise.

Anyhow I only stumbled in here because of the U of Chicago post and felt like going on a rant because white trash dudes seriously bother me.

Yes, it's possibly higher than 2%, but the most credible number out there is 8% (and arguably less credible than 2) and it's generally agreed that less than 50% of actual sexual assaults are reported, so it just seems insanely fucked up to focus on "OMG girls always lie about rape" when they really don't and there are always repercussions when they do. What they're really lying about is not being raped.

And no I don't call anyone around me stupid. I dropped all my stupid friends from high school and only really hang with people I respect, and to be completely honest I only really hang out with people with money, other wise it's just a complete pain in the ass to do anything. And sure, some of them are stupid, but they're not hardcore stupid like the people here or the people I no longer talk to from high school. And they can at least afford to do stuff. Nothing worse than trying to have a night out with some idiots who want to pre-drink until 11pm because they can't afford to drink at the bar.

There are some lesser known celebs who make a decent living just going to gifting suites. When there are events like movie openings or award shows or promotions for things companies will set up stations in this suite and invite celebs to "shop." They can basically take what they want in exchange for taking a picture or recording a quick video or doing something that helps the company promote the product. Giving a celeb a fancy watch or a vacation or some cool clothes is well worth it to them to have a video of that celeb saying how much the enjoy the item.

Many of those celebs then turn around and sell those things. If you are a C/D list celeb that doesn't make much money you can make some serious coin just hitting up the suites and selling the stuff or using the stuff to maintain a nice lifestyle.

Then there are gift bags at the awards shows. The bags giving to Oscar nominees this year got gift bags that were worth between $200,000-$250,000.

First bit of sense I've read in this thread. This entire thing is not PPD but celebrity pass denied but you've got to ask why? What possible reason would the club have to deny them other than poor business sense? Do they really think that the publicity alone of having 3 top tier A-listers in their club is worth less than the £60 entry fee? And this is beside any money they would likely spend in the club where bottles can go for thousands.

The point of PPD is that women are equal to men and they shouldn't be treated differently just from having a vagina. But celebrities in this scenario ARE different, their very presence is worth something and they bring value to whatever establishments they go to just from the fact that they are there. The club owner is an idiot. Step 1) let them in, step 2) have the in club photographer get some great shots of them enjoying themselves and step 3) call the paparazzi for some publicity shots of them leaving the club. The foolishness of the decision is by far the most annoying part for me.
