Welcome to my home state of WI. Where we don't prosecute DWI, OWI and statutory rape of young boys. However, god help you if you sell drugs

[–]Please_Label_NSFW 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Ever wanted to fuck one of your teachers?

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points29 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Ohhh yes. There were quite a few. However they had morals apparently

Ugh! Hate when morals get in the way.

Um, I hate to seem rude, but it appears in this case, this woman was charged with sexual assault, and she plead guilty.

But since when was drug dealing considered kosher. I've heard the pseudo-libertarians say that drug use is a victimless crime, even though in most cases, it's not, but the marketing and sale of narcotics doesn't meet even that absurd level of definition.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea even though she pleaded guilty. She won't get classified as a pedophile and will not get the same punishment as if she were a man. My point was the law system in WI is very skewed.

[–]thealienelite 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How can we be free if we can't even decide what we put in our own bodies?

[–]ChilliHat 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well she chose to put that student in her body and it was illegal too.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Because the child was not mature enough to choose to put himself in her body. That's what statutory rape is.

what a surprise

[–]OMMFGitsAustin 45 points46 points47 points 9 years ago (62 children) | Copy Link

Well, she isn't exactly a pedophile, so.

[–]ABC_Florida 63 points64 points65 points 9 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link

Well, she isn't exactly a pedophile, so.

Agree. But somehow male teachers doing the same are usually pedophiles in news reports.

[–]faithle55 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

That's because newspapers and TV companies are less interested in accuracy than they are in sales.

Paedophiles are interested in children.

Someone who fucks 16 year olds is 'merely' breaking the law. You can find 20 year olds who look and/or who behave like 14 year olds, and you can find 14 year olds who look and/or who behave 20 year olds. There's an artificial but legally significant barrier which means that for some particular person, fucking them on one day is a crime but waiting until after midnight is not. How could you be a paedophile before midnight and not afterward?

[–]20percenttaco 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

There has to be a line somewhere.

[–]faithle55 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Of course.

My point is that the line is socially determined - in Japan it's one age, and in the US, another. Being on the wrong side of the line is not, without more, a sign of sexual perversion.

[–]20percenttaco -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

You're right. Still though, it's gonna be pretty hard to label anyone as anything if we don't have a set rule. In my worldview, you're a pedophile if you're attracted to anyone under the age of 16, whether they act older or not. They're children. There probably are people who find a 15-year-old who looks and acts like an 18-yo, but it's still a kid and shouldn't be treated like an adult, that's just wrong.

[–]faithle55 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Your world view isn't terrifically relevant, I'm sorry to say. Paedophile has a technical meaning, for all that it is one of the words slung about by the media to incense the audience. It doesn't mean 'having sex with 16 year olds', still less does it mean 'having sex with anyone under the legal age of consent'.

[–]20percenttaco -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

paedophile ˈpiːdə(ʊ)fʌɪl/ noun a person who is sexually attracted to children.

Biologically, a child (plural: children) is a human being between the stages of birth and puberty. The legal definition of child generally refers to a minor, otherwise known as a person younger than the age of majority.

Puberty is the time in life when a boy or girl becomes sexually mature. It is a process that usually happens between ages 10 and 14 for girls and ages 12 and 16 for boys.

[–]faithle55 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Impressive. Sorta.

But still wrong. Look up ephebophile, if you like.

[–]Not_An_Ambulance 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, they should just always be called rapists because they are. Male or female.

[–]ABC_Florida 34 points35 points36 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I would glue that "statutory" word in front of it. A scam artist is not the same as the guy who hits you and steals your wallet. Not that no below 18 teen ever was mature enough to make a responsible decision, but it is a necessary thing to draw a line in the sand.

[+]Not_An_Ambulance -17 points-16 points-15 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Compromise... How about we stick "child" on there, because that's usually what I actually see when I'm working with the legal system "child rapist" or more specifically "sexual assault - minor"

[–]ABC_Florida 20 points21 points22 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I don't like that expression. We trust HS aged teens to drive, thus make decisions which influence their own lives and other participants of the traffic. We grant them the right to work. But they are under the line of consent. That does not seem like being a child to me.

?

[+]Not_An_Ambulance -15 points-14 points-13 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We trust HS teens to drive because they needed to help on the farms back in the day and everyone remembers doing it themselves and it being okay.

The laws about sex are where they are because children generally cannot appreciate the consequences of the situation, but also it's often illegal for a teacher to do this because they are in a position of authority and teens especially have problems saying no to people in this situation. Does that mean that people have not been charged with doing what a teen wanted to do? Sure... But, do we risk that when its so easy to go the other way?

[–]ABC_Florida 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not arguing with you about being wrong 99.99% of the time, and it is better making it 100%. I'm arguing about you labeling them "child" instead of teen.

[–]Not_An_Ambulance -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh. Fair enough. I mean, it's just... It's actually pretty hard to tell if you read someone's charge irl

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Consensual sex is not rape.

[–]Not_An_Ambulance 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]dynamiteexplodes 78 points79 points80 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Not sure why you're getting downvoted technically pedophillia is someone who is attracted to prepubescent children, 16 is far from prepubescent.

[–]Diarrhea_Van_Frank 29 points30 points31 points 9 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

True, but it's more about the principle. A man would have definitely been called a pedo.

[–]Indypunk 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Who cares? If a man had sex with a 16 year old girl, that still wouldn't make him a pedophile.

[–]Diarrhea_Van_Frank 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Turnabout is fair play, is the point.

[–]LordGalen 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]EnviousCipher 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]LordGalen 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Were you under the impression that I was pretending such a thing?

[–]Indypunk-4 points 9 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Well how about we complain about that rather than complaining that we're not wrongly calling this woman a pedophile? The fuck does this accomplish? If one sex is treated unfairly we don't go around saying "Hey let's just treat the other sex unfairly too because that makes some damn sense."

[–]hiphopapotamus1 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We arent an advocacy group. We can complain about both equally and nothing will happen. Not far off otherwise.

[+]Diarrhea_Van_Frank -9 points-8 points-7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

fuck off lmao, why argue semantics when that's not the point? YEAH IT'S NOT TECHNICALLY RAPE BY DEFINITION IF YOU ONLY SHOVE YOUR FINGERS IN HER PUSS OR UP HIS ASS

seriously. wow

[–]Sososkitso -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Look I completely understand what this sub Reddit is all about and I get it. But that boy isn't a victim lol there is a double standard I know and it's wrong but if I'm honest he's not a victim lol.

[–]Shower_her_n_gold 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Would a girl at that age be a victim? Would your daughter be one?

[–]Sososkitso 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Of course she would be the victim then. That's just my point. I am in No way defending what the adult did in this story. They are 100% wrong and honestly they are sick. But as for the boy and because he's a boy in his mid teens when everything starts to be sexually. He's probably not a victim. I don't see him laying there saying no no please don't do this. But I do see him egging it on encouraging it, bragging about it and a highly possible chance of even taking the lead on this happening. Which are all signs that a victim wouldn't do. But in the end the adult is 100% in the wrong. Just saying I laughed when the story kept calling him a victim.

Stereotypes they are funny and more times then not they have some kind of truth to them but for some reasons they still offend people.

[–]Shower_her_n_gold 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So are you suggesting that 16 year old girls can't want it?

[–]Sososkitso 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Well I'm going to earn me some more down votes with this because we live in a society that wants to think that gender identity/roles don't exist when nature shows us they do on some level but they do have exceptions. So I'm not stupid and I'm not saying that this is 100% of the time true.

With that said a 16 year old male tends to look for acceptance by getting his nut off and gaining bragging rights or to feel like they conquered their goal. While a 16 year old female is looking to find acceptance by feeling needed and wanted maybe even loved. Now clearly one of those is far more easy for a adult to manipulate and abuse their power as a adult.

Plus if a female teacher manipulates the male student he still feels he achieved his goal but if male teacher manipulates the female student by playing into her needs then she is more then likely going to be left with a void because no way he can give her what she is looking for and if he is trying to give it to her he is double wrong.

But remember I already said that no matter what the adults in these situations are 100% in the wrong.

OK, ctrl+F "statutory rapist" - 0 results.

You can complain all you want about technical definitions, and you can call people stupid, but what /u/digitalpizza was going for was there's a double standard.

By denigrating him, you're demeaning the problem that this woman raped a minor, and no one seems bothered by it.

[–]OMMFGitsAustin -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I was just pointing out that perhaps the reason they didn't use the word pedophile was because there is no pedophile in this story. I didn't call any names or undermine anyones points.

According to Google, Wisconsin's age of consent is 18, so it's not legal. In my state (Georgia), the AoC is 16. The consequences for teachers are not legal, but professional. The state Professional Standards Commission for teachers would revoke the teaching license of anyone who had sex with anyone who is a student in the state of GA, even if that person is over the age of consent and even if that person is 18 and a legal adult.

[+]MrZimothy -13 points-12 points-11 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Yes because rape is much better when the rapist is hot. /s

[–]Diarrhea_Van_Frank 16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Eh, I don't think it's strictly rape just because the person is underage. Legally, yes, but not in the same sense as a forcible sexual encounter. I wouldn't call it rape if it were a man either, but it's definitely illegal as hell.

[–]redacted187 -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, suddenly because it's illegal she's "raping" him. 16 is legal in many states, and most places abroad. Not really bad at all. I kind of feel bad for her to be honest. If she had done this in literally any other place nobody would have batted an eye.

[–]extracanadian 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Committing adultery? Shes lucky its this day in age in a western nation. Any other time or nation and she would have been ostracized from all of society AT BEST to outright executed.

[–]sweddit 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You didn't read 50 shades of grey or Twilight or any of those teen vampire rape fantasies did you? Sex with attractive people never counts as non-consensual.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Consensual sex is not rape.

[–]Not_An_Ambulance 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean... Not for the victim, but I'm usually the one watching on my computer so like... Yeah?

[–]Iamredditsslave 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's called sex. Besides, both knew what they were getting into.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]JihadDerp 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't get engaged. Problem solved

[–]thebabbster 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Especially with a young teenager. That would be devastating. Couple that with all the people congratulating that kid for screwing your wife, and it's a recipe for suicide.

[+][deleted] -56 points-55 points-54 points 9 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

as a feminist, let me explain what happened. this woman was overcome with fear of commitment and it made her act irrationally. women deserve independence every bit as much as man does. so please don't victim blame. this woman and that man had consensual sex and he enjoyed it. this woman should not have her life ruined because of this. no one got hurt. i feel like this woman should be given 6 months community service and fired from her job.

also these news articles should say "teacher rapes underaged student."

[–]ezekrialase 27 points28 points29 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

So wait, you think the news articles should emphasize the fact that the teacher raped the student, but at the same time she doesn't deserve any jail time? I don't think it really matters if it was consensual or not, it's still a teacher taking advantage of an underage student. Do you think if the genders were reversed the teacher would still deserve 6 months community service?

Poe's law.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Poe's law is the excuse of people who can't tell blatant satire staring them in the face. If you actually read the last sentence you'd have been able to tell even with a learning disability, but...

[–]meow03691 points 9 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

If you actually knew what Poe's law is, you'd know it's entirely possible for this to be a legitimate comment if you'd browsed any more of this subreddit than 10 seconds.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, no, it's not.

Calling "Poe's law" is entirely for people who are too dumb to get obvious satire. This comment was obvious satire, ESPECIALLY with the ending line.

The only time you should ever say "lol I can't tell if this is satire or not or you're actually just this stupid" is when someone is clearly just this stupid... but the post you're replying to was obviously joking.

[+][deleted] -20 points-19 points-18 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is SERIOUS you guys!

We've got to track this boy down and give him his luckiest boy in America award right away!

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Still feel sad for the guy marrying her.

I genuinely hope he'll cope. And to find it out during their honeymoon. Can't imagine the feels.

the victim sent the defendant approximately 619 text messages.

the defendant sent the victim approximately 555 text messages.

Also, he wanted her more than the other way around so it's both their fault. There should be a law that would prosecute guy as well, for like a monetary compensation. Kido should be charged with say 5000$ fine to pay to the guy he ruined his personal life to. I bet the guy won't be thinking to get into relationships for the next many years and his whole trust to the whole opposite gender has been nuked.

[–]HorrorCosmicReturned 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
