Feminists attack "nerd" domains because they're easy targets, because they hate unattractive men and because much money's involved.

[–]SlashSero 49 points50 points51 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

If there is one thing a feminist hates more than a straight up wife beater it's an intelligent and good natured nerd that proves all their arguments wrong. They want men to fully respect women and those who respect women the most are ridiculed, patronized and abused by feminists themselves. If it wasn't that way feminists all around the world would be lining up for these men before the age of 30. They would form happy couples and these women wouldn't need feminism any more because the men who respect women are right in front of them, but is that really what they want?

[–]romulusnr 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes "respect" means "never disagree with," or "never disobey," I guess.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Excellent farming for white knights as well.

[–]Jolcas 27 points28 points29 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah but poke a nerd too much and you tend to find one hell of a mean streak in there.

[–]bobsante -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can be book smart but still not be street smart.

[–]bertreapot 63 points64 points65 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's a bit ironic, women are successful at attacking weaker men as having "privilege," because these men don't have the power or social skills to defend themselves. they've been raised to be feminists and to be accommodating to women, and this is the thanks they get.

yes a lot of rich people at the top are white men, that doesn't trickle down to every white man has power and wealth. the daughters of these rich men (who subsequently go to college and accuse male classmates of being privileged) have a lot more power than a guy from an average family who is nerdy and smart, yet lacks social graces, or the wherewithall to defend himself against hostile, catty radfems

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points37 points 11 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Because nerds are a soft target. Since the nerd community is quiet resilient to attacks, thanks to the incessant bullying throughout adolescence they don't give a shit about this.

Feminists don't care about "weak" men either. Virgin neck beard nerd is a go to insult for them and for years they used it smoothly.

I have immense respect for the American nerd community for several reasons( mostly because they're fucking smart and they revolutionised the internet).

Which is why seeing the backlash,- from gamergate to popular blogs,- that feminists get makes me so happy. And this kills feminists, look at how gawker is gasping for attention now? Look at how professional victims are crying harassment and advocating censorship?

It's incredibly beautiful when the weaker, oppressed group strikes back.

At least on the internet, feminism don't stand a chance before these guys. They've seen the worst.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's a nice thought but for the most part I see the nerd community doing nothing, only a few critics on YouTube is what I see; care to share any good news?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I think the whole gamergate movement is a good example. A lot of recent blogposts on medium and otherwise pro-feminist platforms would count. The fact that feminists are not feeling safe enough on the interent would be positive sign imo.

Though they don't go to the extremely hateful (virgin shaming, nerd shaming type) language used by feminazis like Amanda Marcotte, I feel like this is a winning fight. I could be wrong though.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And I may he wrong as well; but I feel like Zoey Quinn and team clearly have come out on top of all this bullshit. All of the mainstream gaming press has come out on their side, and shit tons of non mainstream such as angry joe or extra credit either take their side or or are neutral...no man, shit seems really dark to me. At gdc Anita won some fucking big award and she is getting shit tons of money touring colleges and giving speeches....where are our guys? On youtube with tiny audiences: we have a long way to go brother

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On youtube with tiny audiences:

I mean we are everywhere, not just youtube.

we have a long way to go brother

I agree. But imagine, a few years back, nothing of this sort would have happened. Odds are changing in our favor.

[–]Blutarg 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"All of the mainstream gaming press has come out on their side"

For what that's worth. That press is dying fast, losing readers by the thousand and money by the million.

Some YouTube figures have tiny audiences, some have millions of followers.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hi there. Posting from KiA, originally someone who hang around 8chan (and formerly 4chan). GamerGate has been a pretty huge wake up call for a lot of people in it, althought of what amount and to what level it can vary. However the end result is that there's been a significant enough portion of the so-called 'nerd community' that has waken up and gotten seriously fed up with this bullshit.

I wouldn't necessarily say they became MRA, but you'd be surprised how much the attitude of people have changed over the last almost-year. Yes, there's definately a tight social justice/feminist grip on academia and the medias but don't make the mistake of assuming that the views of those in powers reflect those of the entire community. Nerdy guys are extremely used to taking hits and getting shat on and shamed and they've started to be rather fed up of these wannabes. The people in those cliques are not the people who form the communities. Many of these are, in fact pretenders. If they aren't they are sellouts, people who serve these pretenders as both a way to reinforce their power and also as a mean to expunge their shame for being nerds. These people are ashamed to be nerds and are the rabid attack of dogs, quick to shame and attack other nerds as virginal basement dwelling mysoginist neckbeards as way to show that THEY are not like these 'bad nerds' over there. The 'mainstream' places where the nerds gather are indeed, mostly, under the control of the social justice crowd, which is why it appears as if the entirety of nerddom has been completely lost. The resistance exist and only keep growing as the social justice movement grows even more and more insane by every passing day and as they keep pushing away their allies by becoming increasingly more radical.

The resistance and pushback is real, you just won't find it much in the 'public' spaces, which have been co-opted. We're on the verge/are in the middle of a 'nerd civil war' if you ask my completely worthless opinion. Between those who feel their hobbies are a great thing and the pretentious moron who want them to 'grow up' and in doing so are bastardizing it, all the while appealing to social justice and identity politics and the mainstream. Those who attack their fellow nerds are nothing except self-loathing cowards. Sellouts. Quislings. That said, I do think some of them are capable of changing their minds, even if their catalyst will likely be yellow cowardice.

[–]The_0bserver 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They get push back though. I'm not a complete Otaku right now, but I could have been defined as one some time ago. The places I do visit, does show considerable push back to ridiculous feminist points (as it should)

[–]AtomicBLB 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nailed it!

[–]AtomicBLB 31 points32 points33 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was bullied nearly everyday of my childhood into my teens. I was shunned and mocked by girls because I didn't develop social skills until I was an adult because no one would treat me like a person until then. Then these angry Feminists have the gall to tell me that I'm privileged and my problems are taken seriously because I am male.

You know what I've seen during that time? I've seen female only grants for schools, favouritism in said schools, favouritism in the jobs I have worked, in their problems being addressed, in a great many social situations. I've seen multiple men jump, like savages, to a woman's side at the hint of aggression towards her. At her unquestioned accusation no matter if it holds true or not. Then these same women come into my virtual world where I've held onto what little self esteem I had for so long and they attack me and keep saying I'm the problem.

So, when and where is all this supposed privilege that I have? Aside from white privilege, I don't have any as a man, and if I do, well I'd like to start seeing the positive results from it.

[–]the_herpatitus 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You meanthe president doesn't routinely call you to ask what he should do just because you're a man??? Somepatriarchy this is!

[–]SlashSero 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Myself being relentlessly mentally and physically abused for years by both boys and girls just for being intelligent and good natured, almost driven to suicide while working hard on my own future. I persisted through all of it and instead of appreciation and compassion I see people like me getting harassed again and again. No, I am not some spoiled brat that gets 'triggered' by seeing others treated the way I have been and have almost driven me to suicide. I stand up and say something about it. I am sick of it and I am truly sorry for having this 'privilege'.

[–]Ransal 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm there with you. Our voice is silenced whenever we are the voice of reason.

It's gotten so bad that we can't even express ourselves on the internet due to the thought police saying we can't have an opinion since we aren't a woman.

[–]ConfirmedCynic 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

And as an MIT professor, he is very privileged

Just what are the MIT professor's "privileges" anyhow? Pay? Recognition in his field? A certain respect for his position?

Wouldn't you say he's earned these by being smart and driven enough to become a professor at MIT??

Or do feminists just honestly believe he got there by treading on women and black people, that everyone just moves aside for him on the sidewalk and that he always sits in the front row at a theater, or something?

What does "privilege" mean when spoken by a feminist anyhow? Sounds like code for "you owe me something because you're successful".

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude took endless bullying, virgin/nerd shaming from feminists put countless hours into getting better at what he does and made use of his genetic gift.

He's contributing his energy into changing the way computers work.

And these feminazis blogging on platforms built by men like him abusing and bullying him AGAIN!

The fucking entitlement, man.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same thing as when people say they want people to pay their fair share in taxes, ignoring the fact that the tax rate for high earners in the USA is already looming at 50%. Just what exactly is "fair share", since its such a malleable concept depending on the presenter.

[–]alclarkey 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to Bernie Sanders, it's 90%.

[–]ATLracing -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wouldn't you say he's earned these by being smart

Do you mean learned? I'm not sure how anyone could deny that intelligence is a privilege. Whether or not being hyper-intelligent yet socially awkward places one in a privileged position is another matter, but on its own, intelligence is certainly a privilege.

[–]ConfirmedCynic 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Intelligence is not granted, by society or anyone else; it's innate. Therefore it can't be a privilege, unless you're going to argue that it's granted by God.

[–]ATLracing -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to Google, the definition of privilege is, "a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group of people."

[–]TheRedThrowAwayPill 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

GamerGate worked because the video game industry gets its money from video game players. It doesn't get barely shit from online YouTube feminazis

Geeks and nerds can become high income earners later in life. They would make excellent providers and ideal fathers. Indeed they are amongst the ones helping greatly to keep up society by procreation and paying taxes and partaking in the economy.

If feminazis even burn down this bridge .... you're gonna have a bad time.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If feminazis even burn down this bridge .... you're gonna have a bad time.

They hate nerds...just google "nerds feminists" on google. You can see endless tirades against the nerd culture. the only matter is that, it takes a lot (like the gaming industry) to piss off the nerd community...

Enter MGTOW...

Because when successful men don't get married or have children, the society loses most of its ability to drain financial resources from them.

[–]notIsugarpie 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think you should be able to talk about geeks unless you are one, and I are one (as Jeff Foxworthy once said).

Here's my bottom line:

Was I bullied as a kid? Sometimes. Did pretty girls make me do their homework for them? Yeah. Was that the only reason why they would talk to me? Yeah. Was I socially ostracized as a kid? Yep. Did I have any friends? A couple, but not many, and I never got invited anywhere if other people could help it. Did I get turned down by every girl I asked out? Yes. Did people think I was nice? Yeah. Did I have interests and hobbies that I wouldn't dare mention in public? Yeah, this was before reading comics was cool, and when it was seen as a form of "Peter Pan" syndrome, so my hobby was frowned upon. This was also before video games were cool.

A few weeks ago, I saw my sister, who spent years trying to get me to dump my entire comic book collection, surfing the net for news about the new Avengers movie. Its cool now, it wasn't 25 years ago when I started reading comics and when no one else was. When she found out I had a copy of man out of time #1 (first winter soldier) in my collection, she gasped, and that was a book she tried to get me to sell, or give away, before she saw the movie. You can't explain why its important to someone who doesn't give a shit.

I saw my other sister playing video games with her friend a year ago, and they were playing the new Zelda game, because video games are cool now. I remember, as a kid, playing the first Legend of Zelda, in the gold catridge, on my NES. I also remember playing the first Super Mario Bros, the first final fantasy and the first sonic the hedgehog. Only kids like me did that back in the eighties and early nineties. Back then, there were a few gamers, here and there, but it wasn't until the internet really took off that gamer culture became a thing.

During that time, growing up, I would call myself privileged, in the sense that I grew up relatively well off, from a stable two parent home, where my dad was the bad cop and my mom was the good cop. I know most people in this world have it worse than I do. I'm very self aware of what privilege means, to me, it doesn't mean that you don't have problems, and it doesn't mean that you feel sorry for those who have bigger problems than you do (most people's problems are self-inflicted ones, just because you have more troubles than another person doesn't mean you have less privilege)

Privilege is about what the world gives you for no other reason than existing. Its about the situation you're thrown into from birth, and it has nothing to do with what you did with those advantages. Alexander the Great was extremely privileged, he was born the son of King Phillip the second, and was taught by Aristotle as a child. However, he used those advantages to conquer the known world. Every other person, in human history, who had Alexander the Great's privilege didn't do anything close to what he did with his. Many people, who start life off with more than I have, haven't accomplished what I have. Many people who start life off with a lot less accomplish far more. At the end of the day, privilege is what you start with, we all encounter set-backs and road-blocks, we all do dumb things and suffer self-inflicted wounds. Some of us learn and grow, others do not.

Women are born with privilege, just because having a vagina is more valuable, biologically, than having a penis is. Cock is plentiful, and easy to get, relative to pussy, so pussy has a higher default marginal value. Beautiful women, regardless of what other things they have at the start of life, have privilege in a way that only elite athletes have it: they will get chance after chance after chance in life, and athletes have to work for their extra chances, women just need to be pretty. There is no group of people on earth, as an aggregate, except for the wealthy, who have more privilege than the top 50% of women on the attractiveness scale. I make an upper middle class living, so I have money to burn, and I know I'm not as privileged as the hot, young, chick who works at my local ice cream palor. She will get way more chances than I will in life, I mess up once and its over, she can keep messing up and another chance will come.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not as privileged as the hot, young, chick who works at my local ice cream palor. She will get way more chances than I will in life, I mess up once and its over, she can keep messing up and another chance will come.

And here's the kicker... I'm not mad at her for being 'privileged'. I don't want her to flagellate herself for forgiveness in the Temple of Social Justice. I don't money or extra opportunities to try to make up for this injustice. I just want her to stop taking potshots at me over personal qualities that I have zero control over. But apparently that's too much.

[–]Peter_Principle_ 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“This is why Silicon Valley is fucked up. Because it’s built and run by some of the most privileged people in the world who are convinced that they are among the least.”

Hey, Marcotte and Penny, guess what? New rule: If you had a kid with your last boyfriend, you will work at a job that makes the most money you are capable of making. You will give at least 25% of your income to him (and 25% to the courts). He will be the custodial parent. You will pay that 25% regardless if your income goes down or disappears. You will pay more if your income goes up. You will do these things, or you will go to prison.

How I wish I could drop this rule on these oblivious cunts today, just to see their howls of outrage. Then I would think about how men have been forced to deal with this for the past 30 years, and I would laugh.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

For those who didn't read the vile response by Amanda Marcotte (who's definitely too stupid, like most feminists, to appreciate Dr. Aaronson's work and is too eager to mock him and call him a nerd as many times as possible) :

She was basically denying any adversity men would face by the gender roles which expects men to approach women. And then whined about how SA affects women! The whiteknights/fakes in the comments section were basically saying it's the responsibility of a man to bend to the gender norms which favor women.

So much for feminist hypocrisy. These slimes are too blind by their bitterness to see their blatant stupidity..and the irony of this pathetic woman linking to rational wiki. eww.

[–]romulusnr 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's retarded. If anything nerdy men should be easy allies. Instead they become easy targets. Easy scapegoats. All evil of mankind is projected upon them. You'd think they were frat boy jock jarheads instead of nerds, the way vitriol is expended on them. It does nothing to stop rape culture, either, nor does it do anything to improve gender equality or disrupt gender norms -- if anything, it reinforces them.

[–]YetAnotherCommenter 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is precisely why I became a supporter of the MHRM in the first place.

[–]augustfell 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More SJW rhetorical judo:

  • Boys drop out of school? Privilege. Proof: Insert names of some business leaders.

  • Boys with learning and emotional disabilities? Privilege. Proof: Insert names of some geniuses.

  • Men go to jail. Privilege. Proof: Insert names of some male civic leaders.

  • Men commit suicide. Privilege. Proof: Insert names some male artists and musicians.

Basically, issue that might garner some compassion from a normal human being is reinterpreted as something to feel envious and resentful about.

[–]practeerts 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I just don't see the point in this one other than one perceived victim saying "hey we're bigger victims!"

Edit: I was talking about the feminists saying "hey look at us more."
