The answers range depending on the age of the male in question:

Infants: circumcision. If it's not legal to do to girls, it shouldn't be legal to do to boys. But feminists and religious zealots are walking arm-in-arm to molest babies with scalpels and Gomco clamps. You know what the last group was called who considered Jewish religious practices barbaric? The Nazis. Therefore anybody who dares claim circumcision is barbaric is obviously an anti-Semite, of course.

Young boys: sexualization. From the kindergartener charged as a sexual predator because he pulled his pants down on the playground to the overwhelming acceptance of female-perpetrated statutory rape and molestation, boys simply are NOT SAFE. But who is going to push for harsher treatment and more punishing sentences of female molesters and child-rapists? Mary Kay LeTourneau got TWO FUCKING BOOK DEALS for fucking a 12 year old.

Young men: rape hysteria. Rather than being treated as innocent individuals until proven guilty, young men are increasingly being targeted as guilty rapists-in-waiting who simply haven't gotten the chance to enact their evil plans as of yet. Thus, sex in college in some cases all but requires written consent forms. But are we going to tell feminists to stop spreading rape hysteria myths like "one in four women will be raped" when the number is actually more like one in 4000 based on the most aggressive statistics available.

Older men (especially fathers): custody and divorce court. Yeah, this one's a no-brainer. But really, are you going to tell feminists to stop abusing the system for profit? How is that working with crony capitalist senators again?

Education is failing our boys - your boys - and it's not getting much better. Boys will revive harsher punishments for misbehavior, less attention from teachers, less academic scholarship opportunities, and less programs that cater to keeping boys interested in education. At best, many education systems can be seen at treating boys with a sort of fatigued apathy or indifference, whereas at worse they treat boys as defective girls.

Now, I don't know you, I don't know how old your sons are, I don't know what the school they go to is like, so maybe nothing that follows will be applicable:

You can get involved in your children's school(s). Make sure they keep recess in school. A lot of schools have cut recess for one reason or another, and while it hurts all students, it seems to disproportionality hurt boys.

Make sure they offer boys the same academic opportunities as girls. We've heard a lot of stories of schools offering girls only academic programs, or girls only library hours, things like that. Your sons don't deserve to be on the school's back burner.

Make sure boys aren't being punished disproportionately to girls for the same infractions. This is a society wide problem that starts at sometimes as early as kindergarten. We treat boys (and eventually men) with more harshness, less empathy, and less understanding, and your boys may too be subject to this. Don't stand for it. Raise hell if t happens, make sure the schools know that you won't sit idly by while they perpetuate this culturally pervasive unfairness.

Love your sons. Show them understanding, empathy, kindness, forgiveness. In a world that is unfeeling and uncaring towards them, that will see them as tools to be utilized and discarded or potential monsters to be feared, see them as beautiful souls, rich in joy, sadness, pain, pleasure, emotion, and humanity. This, more than anything else, will have the most profound impact on them, and arguably its absence is the core of most (if not all) men's issues.

Do your best. Accept your failures. Accept your limitations. You cannot change he world alone, but you can change a little piece of it.

Indifference.

Men and boys face relatively as many, maybe more, maybe less(hard to say due to the effect of indifference to men) issues as women.

And to a degree everyone is aware of it, but doesn't care.

People know men are abused and discriminated against, but accept it as men's role as a target of abuse, or just ignore it. "You're a man, so suck it up/man up"

Merely showing as much compassion to men as you would women makes a hell of alot of difference.

I don't know if it's the biggest problem, but the most actionable is probably circumcision. Fixing it is as simple as passing a single law. Hell, you don't even need a new law - you just have to remove gender from an existing law. And if there's any time when a male can evoke public sympathy it's when he's still a babe in arms.

I'd say you are in an excellent position to work on educational attainment issues. Have you seen the lecture Dr James Brown delivered for CAFE? He identifies things you can do to help your boys, and things you can ask of their school system (more male teachers, more boy-friendly books, longer recess, etc..) Leondard Sax wrote two good books on the topic too- check out "Boys Adrift" and "Why Gender Matters"

Making sure that they understand that they don't have to think, act, pretend they are invisible in order to be consider "real men".

In fact make sure they understand that they don't need to conform to anyone else's idea of what a man is supposed to be. One of the most damage things ever done to males is fill them up with some idea that there is a specific script (sleep with a lot of women, have a lot of money, be really good at sports, etc....) they must follow in order to have their boyhood/manhood acknowledged by others. Just as they are looking to dad to learn how to be men, they are looking to you to learn about women.

Also as a mom, you are in a prime position to be a model for how men and women interact with and treat each other. You know all those posts and articles that tell dads that they need to be role models for the kind of men they want their daughters to be with? You are in a position to do the same for your sons. (Even if they don't date women later its still important to show them how a partnership, regardless of what genders are involved, works.)

Well boys by the time they are 8 or 9 have usually picked on the "fact" that girls are better than boys and that adults all think that way (girls know this by about 4 years old).... so you might want to do something about that.

I think education and the gender achievement gap is by far the most important issue, as education is for the future. With the gap in college graduation rates continuing to get worse then the "glass floor," the vast amount of men at the bottom of society, only gets worse and worse. If we redesign the education system so it actually works for the average boy from kindergarten on, we could see some major societal changes.

Circumcision is something major facing young boys. They have no say in it, and it affects the rest of their lives. Funny how female circumcision is justified as mutilation, but many boys are forced to get circumcised.

The No 1 issue...without a doubt is LMS.

This is new 'ideological' (not yet sociological or psychological) phenomena/theory termed 'The Lost Male Syndrome' (LMS).

In MY humble opinion, factoring in everything, this is the biggest 'torment' hetero males face.

More generally, the hysteria over rape and sexual assault on campuses and the demonization of collage men.
