People from my Facebook page circa college a couple of years back are so entrenched in gnarly gender-war ideas that I can't decide whether or not to mass remove half my old social circle.

A woman I know created a topic about misandry in response to something Rush Limbaugh said. I made a comment that first-wave feminism said some "strange" things that may be why people feel a backlash against it today.

This White Knight jumps to the rescue and accuses me, based SOLELY on that comment, of being a: rape-enabler, victim-shamer, and a demeanor of women.

(Obviously, he was trying to score sex points with our mutual friends, as White Knights so often do.)

I become pretty pissed off and, despite our history, I remove him from my friends list.

Next on the same thread, another girl brings up the quote that I headlined; that she sees "no problem" with misandry because it's warranted against men. OK THEN!

As for the girl who made the thread, I've known her for 5 years, we used to be kind-of close, but this shit is infuriating me. She, of course, sided with her White Knight, and I am very close to cutting ties with her, as well.

Here's the kicker: nobody knows I feel empathetic to certain MRA principles and that I feel feminist culture has overreached, and that I am strongly against gender division.

All I did was mention that SOME writers from the FIRST WAVE of feminism said SOME things that SOME men MIGHT feel is SOMEWHAT offensive.

And yet, I become ostracized like a leper. When a girl comes along and outright says she supports hatred for men, everyone pats her on the back.

So, I guess I just wanted to reach out for some help / advice. I hate the idea of cutting ties with friends who I have history with, but seeing this stuff infuriates me as badly as any other injustice, and i'm at my wits end. What are your thoughts?
