My guess is that for those particular ladies, anime is outside of the bounds of normality. Maybe the art style and for others, it's considered "childish" which doesn't help.

Lastly, there are those themes of Lolita and pedophilia that aren't common but have gained more attention.

But it's like everything else, it depends of your face.
If you're a attractive, you probably watch mature, serious and interesting anime, whereas if you're ugly, you only watch hent*i.

But those who attach importance to their partner's hobbies are superficial, certainly people who have absolutely nothing to contribute and just want to take because they're empty people who need to be stimulated like children.

If you look at the various stats available online, there really isn't that big of a difference between how men and women feel about anime. I think anti-anime women are just loud about it. In general, people who hate something tend to be the most motivated to talk about it at all.

Nah it’s not just women - there are plenty of female anime lovers. A lot of western people in general think anime is only hentai or for kids (funny how those are the only options and some people think hentai is loli shit) and the genre is completely off their radar in general

Its entirely a matter of 'loser'/'nerd'/'geek' males liking something. That automatically makes the hobby revolting to normie women due to the Horn Effect.

There was actually a study done where two very similar groups of women were given identical science tests. In one room, there was a lot of "nerd" paraphernalia (Star Trek posters etc). In the other room there was nothing of the sort (just a poster of a forest or the like). The women in the nerdy room got lower results on average than the women in the neutral room. I think that study is very illustrative.

Many anime stereotypes involve infantilizing women, weird blurred lines in terms of age, and in general stereotypical anime viewers are considered to be creeps and pervs - now, a lot of this isn’t inherently true, but you gotta remember what goes mainstream is often what people talk about the most, and often what’s foreign to a lot of people often have the worst of it stick out, and the worst of anime really can get quite creepy.

That being said, many women also do enjoy anime - but also the ones who do are usually quite introverted and thus aren’t seen out in public nearly as much.

Personal story about that. I had people run almost screaming from my apartment when they saw my Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa VHS case on my bookcase. It took 2 decades to find out from someone that they associated anime with hentai anime and pedophilia. Not too much of a reach if all they heard of was Cream Lemon or Urotsukidoji etc. Plus there is one scene in Nausicaa where the titular character was flying on her glider and you could see under her skirt for a split second. Like I said, couldn't blame them.

Then there's all the right wingers on Twitter, etc. using anime girls as avatars nowadays. And the incels who use them and rant about 18 is too late and all that.

W*men hate anime because anime girls are often cute, pleasant and have good personalities (since a lot of them are created by men), unlike modern w*men.

Because of the above reason, anime is also a cope for sub-5 men who would rather fantasize about cute pleasant 2d girls instead of subjecting themselves to torture by interacting with modern w*men, so anime gets associated with sub-5s and becomes a "creepy" hobby.

Any hobby that is nerdy and geeky is creepy to women only if unattractive men have these hobbies. Look at Henry Cavill who is a gamer and a nerd and women absolutely get wet over him, but if it was some average Joe having the same hobbies, they would consider him creepy.

I think that because the female characters always seem perverted and childish with annoyingly high-pitched voices. Also loli stuff is associated with anime and that's literally pedo territory.

If he enjoys a range of media that includes some anime that's fine and dandy. If his "hobby" is anime then chances are he's got that shit all over his walls and collects toys of some specific character or show that he's fixated with, and that's not okay.
