It’s especially annoying when women literally marry a guy that plays video games and then expect him not to play the video games anymore, or complain when he does when it’s in healthy moderation.

They could literally join him in playing the video game and have a lot of fun and bond with him but instead they’re stuck in this “video games are childish” mentality. Better video games for relaxation/entertainment than drugs or some shit.

Men are expected to Put Her (and the kids) First. Ergo any hobby time is seen as selfish/self-indulgent/wrong.

It all goes back to the traditional gender roles. Men are Instrumentalized, women are Infantilized. Ergo women can be 'childish' (and are basically expected to be) and men are forbidden from that and instead put to "useful work" (as defined by society).

I've exposed my girlfriend to my hobbies, she definitely takes a better stance on my martial arts than my nerd hobbies. That's to be expected though, you don't often see many women playing cards, 40k, fighting games etc...

They Say it because most of you use video games and anime as something to do INSTEAD of improving yourself or going out and socializing. Cutting that shit out of your life cold turkey forces you to go do something else. Also the girls super into video games and anime don't get attention from the attractive dudes if they aren't doing stuff to keep themselves in shape. I'm not banging some ugly-ass landwhale just because she loves my favorite anime.

Men’s hobbies consume them and if someone is complaining that they don’t have the things they want in life the first thing to do is cut out the things that are wasting their time. When men spend hours a day playing video games that time could be better spent elsewhere. If a man is spending all day in his room and can’t understand why he doesn’t have a girlfriend or any meaningful connections the easiest thing to fix is just for him to leave his room. It’s not about the actual hobby, activity, or behavior, it’s about the fact that it consumes your life and prevents you from being productive.

It’s fine if you don’t want to be productive but you can’t be surprised when you don’t have a relationship and people don’t support you.

The same advice isn’t given to women as it relates to dating because their improvement doesn’t require as much time and most are already being productive even if they need a bit a guidance. At the end of the day you are not a woman and you face different challenges so don’t be surprised that the advice is not the same.

restoring cars

hunting/fishing

kayaking

sports

The hobbies you listed are looking at a screen all day alone and providing nothing of value and you wonder why people shit on you doing it literally all the time.

If you're doing anything that takes you out of society for many many hours over many years then it's going to impact the development in you of social engagement, social skills and social perceptiveness.

It's insane that so many men expect us not to mention that when they are basically having a big fat complain about how hard talking effectively to women is.
