My wife told me this morning that she does not want to be married any longer. I'm not going to fight her. She's ok with a 50/50 split and equally shared custody.

We have been married for 17 years. For most of the 17 years, I was the primary bread winner. We are now about equal in pay. I was/am self employed, so her job provided the health insurance and we opted for a vested retirement through her work instead of a 401k.She worked there about 14 years. She changed jobs a year or two ago and she opted for a 401k.

I had setup an investment account in fidelity and started putting in some moneyinto stocks.

Is it fair to do a 50/50 split in that seeing as it's my only savings/retirement fund. All the years where her pension was being funded, but our lifestyle and vacations, etc... was mostly funded by my earnings.

Should I just accept the 50/50 of the investment account as good enough and fair and move on?
