I guess that really depends on what your relationship is like, first wife, I didn't help the kids with her birthdays at all, would drop the kids off for the evening even if my week, but that was it, for second wife, I did help with cards, presents and other things, but it was an entirely different situation so...

You set an example for your kids. Don’t be petty just to spite her if it’s something that means something to them. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, but if you get along in a decent manner, let the kids celebrate her in their own way. It’s important for them.

What do you think you should do? It’s sounds like you’re doing it for the kids which is great. I get my ex Wife bday, Mother’s Day & Christmas gifts. Nothing too expensive, kids pick it out (9& 10) ,I just sign the card. She does likewise pretty much.. it’s not that serious to me.

I always get a Mother’s Day card and Birthday card for my ex wife, and let my daughter hand it to her each time and say it’s from her and Daddy.

This has so far been unreciprocated. I’m past that, mostly. The most important thing is that my daughter learns “it’s the thought that counts”.
