Separate your finances . Make sure she’s working and contributing to household expenses. Sell any assets. Don’t make any large purchases or investments. Consult with lawyer and know your state laws in regards to alimony , child support , asset divisions etc . You could use ChatGPT to give you an idea. Finally , when the time comes directly negotiate with her in order to avoid costly back and forth lawyer costly fees. Once you reach an agreement have your lawyer draw up the marital settlement agreement.

Perhaps speak to divorced woman who filed like most do. If they're being truthful they will tell you their planning/lawyering and monkeybranching started years/months before they all of a sudden served you with divorce papers.
Heck mine even discussed and made a pros and cons list together with my 2 teenage daughters behind my back, neglecting to tell them that she is actually in love with another man.

Don't tip your hand. The first time she hears the "D" word should be when she's being handed the divorce petition that your attorney filed the prior day.

Secure all personal valuables, documents etc outside the home where she can't get to them. Put all your firearms in the care of a trusted friend so that she can't claim you're threatening her with them. Do all of this secretly BEFORE filing. Look up "silver bullet divorce" and take steps to minimize your exposure to this. If you have minor children together do not move out of the marital home without a custody order signed by a judge, and even then consider not moving out at all. Once you're out of the house while still paying for everything, she has no incentive to settle as she's got everything she wants - your house, your kids, your money, and no you.

My divorce strategy was to be as calm as possible. My therapist told me that the woman you married is no longer there. That’s a complete stranger. My priorities always shifted. No kids though so that’s a win. If you have kids make sure to make it the least traumatizing as possible.

Since she cheated and I had to pay big I did not feel bad at all about splurging on myself at the end. Teeth fixed, new ride paid off, new gold chain that bitches love, good furniture for my bachelor pad, paid off student loans, surgery I had put off, new wardrobe etc etc. She was always a spendthrift so I kept it within reason. Made some horse trades along the way.

The trick was doing this slowly deliberately and keeping my cards close to my vest. Not legal advice not a lawyer ymmv.
