Dont EVER enter a conditional agreement with an ex, ESPECIALLY when it's in her interest to see that the condition is never met.

That's not a timeline, that's a sentence. Like alimony "for 4 years OR until she has a job making over $50k". She will NEVER achieve "in the green" as long as it benefits her.

Option 2 is the only option. Trust the wisdom of this sub. You do not want financial entanglements with an ex.

I filed and bought my spouse out of her half of the home. It will take me about 3 years to pay back the loan I had to take out to pay her, but I am now having a renter in there giving me an extra $42k in rent money a year. I can sell the home at any time and make all my money back from the divorce if I wanted. Being a veteran I was also able to hold onto my 2.5% interest rate.

So a 3 year sacrifice to rent it out and put 70% of my salary towards a loan to me is worth it for being able to keep this home for the rest of my life.

Every situation is different. Do what is best for you.

Just sell and split if you can't buy her out. You absolutely don't want to even be aware of her existence, as she's going to be out there...well, you just want to forget her.

Sell everything and move on. I kept the house for a while and decided to sell later. She was still on the deed. Well she had to sign some paperwork to complete the sell and tried to refuse, but I had been awarded the house in the divorce decree. I wrote her lawyer and asked if she was going to sign or if I needed to have her held in contempt. She signed pretty quickly after that, but still. You never know how they’ll be in a few years.

Why would you want to gamble your future on her business execution? Beyond that, if you are splitting up a legal entity (marriage) why would you remain entangled?
