It was nice to see this. My kids’ dad Decided to leave them early to spend the holidays with his mistress and her daughter instead. Solidarity. The first major holiday not as a family is HARD.

Go to the mountains and stay at a bougie lodge.. drink hot cider and go snow mobiling ! Or skiing if you’re better at it than me lol plenty of snow bunnies to distract you

Do you have other relatives? My sister invited me for this holiday and also our single dad. My STBXW is with her relatives, the boys of my sister are with her ex. So all single family member come together.

Going through the same.

Shortly after separating in May, my stbxh spitefully planned a vacation to Florida with our 2 adult (but still financially dependent) children. They are leaving on Christmas day.

He's never planned a vacation before. It was always me. It will be my first time ever being alone on Christmas day. I'm gutted and dreading the day.

But my children are still expecting me to decorate the house, put the trees up (by myself since they're away at college), shop for, buy and wrap all the gifts, do everything as I always have while stbxh stares at his phone, and I'm supposed to make like everything is fine. Like I'm not dying inside at the collapse of my marriage and family.

He's the reason we're separated. I never wanted this to happen. I stayed probably much longer than I should have. And I'm the one being left behind.

So...

I applied for a volunteer position with a program that has a trip to Argentina over Christmas break and I got accepted.

I'd be leaving the 3 of them to do Christmas on their own. Part of me wants to do it but another part of me feels incredibly guilty.

I’m naturally a lone wolf, I have my family I spend with at thanksgiving and Xmas but I’m content with cooking me a nice prime rib with just me and the dog

At the friend of my ex wife, with ex wife and I have been told that if I am grumpy I will get booted out the door. So... Xmas at Salvation army?

Holidays are just a date, why not celebrate those dates the week prior get your family together make a big ass turkey and pretend it's Thanksgiving who cares, same for Christmas
