Was in the same situation. Look for privately owned homes or condos to rent. Private owners are generally more willing to work with you and will consider the circumstances more than a corporate owned property.

Usually if you can prove at least 3 months of rent and explain your situation they will rent to you. My credit score wasn't great while going through the process. I got lucky I looked at 3 or 4 different places and only applied to the one I really wanted and was approved based on references and proof of funds.

Freeze your credit at all 7 credit bureaus. Explain to the leasing that your credit is frozen because of divorce.
