Some great advice here. 28 years together, my divorce will be final later this month. Throw yourself into your work, gym, therapy, and learn to be alone. Rely on friends not to vent (although a couple of friends are good to vent to but not all the time) what does your new life look like? You are in the second half of your life what does that look like moving forward. travel (you will meet people), have goals write them down and work towards them. Staying busy is so important. It’s ok to have down days, we all do. Time will heal you as it will for me as well I know this, but it is still tough. This form is a great place to share. We are all hear for you.

The door has opened for you to reinvent yourself.

I probably sound like a broken record here, but focus on yourself and your physical and mental health.

Go to the gym, sign up for a class, etc.Find a local church. Even if you don't believe, surrounding yourself with friendly people with loving attitudes can keep the darkness at bay.Go get a massage. It's intimate and it will help satisfy your need to be touched. (serious).

Couchsurfing. Meet, host, hangout with, or be hosted by travelers all over the world. It’s $15 a year but worth every penny. I have made some amazing memories from it and I have made friends all over the world from it; young and old, guy and girl, couples, travelers, other hosts, etc etc. It has been such a great experience when I went through my divorce.

Try meetup. There’s groups for people post divorce. Or people wanting to meet up for coffee etc. just search your interests. Have you got a good friendship group? If so reach out to friends. Are there any men’s groups in you area? Search google and find out. I joined men’s group and found out two guys in there had been through a separation. It is a big world out there but don’t feel isolated. Connect with friends, family. If you like any sports, try something just for the social aspect. Meetup can be used for that

Does your health care cover Therapy? Mine did it for $25 per hour. I had a talk once a week once it started, in part because I didn't want to talk to any of my friends about it because I had hopes we could reconcile.

Therapy was helpful for seeing how stupid that was

It can be uncomfortable. I’m divorcing again after 9 years with my wife. It’s tough. If you need someone to chat with let me know. I’ve been trying to do the work with therapy, joined a couple of meetups, working out 6 days a week. Anything and everything to get better. But it’s always nice to talk with someone who experiencing the same thing as you.
