Since my divorce I've spent a lot of time alone, in fact, this is the most time alone I've had in probably 25 years.

During these alone times, I often have thoughts that resurface about the divorce and about things that were fair or unfair and things like that. I've begun dating other people and at this point I'm not actually in another relationship, but I met two women within the past 4 months who both said that they had been willing to be married to me. By the client relationship with one and the other one we decided to be friends due to religious differences.

One thing I've noticed is that whenever I get really close with another woman and she tells me that she's very serious and that she would choose me to potentially be her husband all of a sudden. I start having a lot of dreams about my ex. Since the divorce. I've seen a lot of things about my ex that opened my eyes to aspects of her character and ways of handling conflict that have become unattractive to me. She's not coming back and I don't want her back. But for some reason I'm not so sure that I wouldn't take her back if she called me and begged. The reason is you know we were together basically for 20 years total. Married for 16 and had two children.

It's been a little over 2 years that we have been living in separate households. The papers were filed and all the legal stuff completed in the May of last year. We live 2 hours apart and co-parent on the weekends. I thought I was over her but I have these dreams that seem like flashbacks of our previous life or conversations that I want to have with her, but I know that I can't.

How do I really get rid of my attachment to her so that I don't have these dreams and that I don't start feeling like I miss the old situation and the woman that she used to be every time I meet somebody else who seriously wants to move forward. I'm grateful for whatever insight you can share
