I recall that my mother basically lost her mind after my brother and I were done living with her and left the nest and that child support dried up.

I feel so good for you man! My kids are fairly young and after my divorce being with them was an immense joy to me, they definitely helped me get through some rough times. Not that I burden them with my emotions, just having laughs, movie nights, coding on the couch, can't imagine facing that on my own.

Hopefully for your ex's sake your sun still keeps in contact with her, but don't feel bad. This is your turn to bond with him. Enjoy it

I was only without my son for 3 or 4 months before he wore down his mother and moved back home with me. The first few weeks I enjoyed the novelty of making dinner for him each day. He's been with me nonstop for 3 years now and I still love caring for him. I like to do things for others, to care for my family. It's so much more rewarding to put those efforts into my son than it was his mother who was very toxic

Yes! I always had the idea of your plan but fortunately my son graduated college and got his first job and is making more at 22 than I made until I was mid-30’s

Will have the plan on back burner in case daughter needs it

Stbx on biz trip last week and got to have dinner with both kids 3 out of 4 nights.

It was almost like having a family again

Good for you man! My only child will be 21 next month. I toughed this out because I knew I could never support two households and pay for my baby (girl) to get thru college with no student loan debt, she will finish around May 2024. I know you are happy that your boy is still around.

I'm trying to talk my wife into a 'friendly' divorce because, in my state at my age, alimony is a complete death sentence for a man.

The only good thing to come out of my marriage was my daughter.
