This is a compilation of separate studies that favor the notion of women cheating more. They all surveyed particular groups as individuals on yes or no questions where some will be honest and some won't. They surveyed men and women about themselves and the other gender based on personal situations and on subjective opinion. I didn't cheat because im a man, I cheated because it was easy and I could just like I lied to my wife and still have just because i could. Not sure how who does what more or less has anything to do with divorce as we're all capable and we'd all be lying if we said we never at the very least thought about it.

That said, if the study says YOUNGER woman and women with better and more self sufficient careers and independence are more likely to cheat then why do we men as a whole look at them like the holy grail while lowering the "market value" of a middle aged woman with life experience and morals simply because of age and that she might have had someone else's children? Most groups I'm in say to get you a younger woman and steer clear the woman like my ex but this study says the younger more independent woman are less loyal and self controlled. What are we actually doing or trying to prove here?

Personally I think that the rate of cheating may not have changed at all, it’s just become more acceptable for women to admit it, and in fact even be celebrated by their friends and society for doing it.

[–]Fofotron_Antoris 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They lied in the old days because there would be consequences for the woman cheating. Now they just admit it openly, sometimes even proud of themselves.

[–]UseResponsible43681 point 2 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think a mix, but it's definitely more socially acceptable.

"Open Relationship" had a previous euphemism: "Taking a Break"

[–]Ethereal-Mage 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If you think about it women use to have less availability to cheat. Women weren't always in the work place. Women couldn't always own a home or have access to a bank account. It wasn't always common place for a woman to have male friends after marriage. Women use to stay at home have babies and take care of the house and have dinner and dessert on the table as soon as their husband's walked in the door. Spent their days pressing underwear and pruning roses and maybe waving high to the nosey neighbor next door. Of course there might have been a rise at some point but it wasn't recent. To be honest though of I were to take accountability I couldn't sadly I'd have blamed my wife If shed been the one that cheated because I spent years doing my own thing and paid her no mind. The woman still chased after me like a puppy dog and I figured her pathetic. Most women in her position would have moved on or had an affair out of loneliness. I knew she was alone and didn't give a crap. Cheating is never OK but sometimes we have to ask ourselves if we did something that led to it. Kind of how we excuse ourselves as men cheating when we feel ignored, turned down or unappreciated for so long. If we're right with ourselves and present to our partners that stuff just doesn't happen.

My countering personal anecdote was that my ex wife cheated as soon as the marginal benefit of not cheating went to zero. She was loyal until she had the wedding, car, baby, house, and claim to maximum assets. At least on this sub, my personal anecdote is far more common. I also assume that men who cheat don’t have the same degree of heartbreak and therefore don’t need the solace of this group.

For me, this is why the “don’t get married” advice is appropriate. Getting married gives her fresh new incentives to cheat lol. If a girlfriend cheats, Idgaf, she can’t take my shit or affect my assets. If a wife cheats (which she legally can at any time for any reason), she gets a cut of your savings, property, and future income. So whether or not one sex cheats more than the other, marriage is a bad deal for men.

[–]Ethereal-Mage 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Apologies for not following what you mran by personal anecdote. I must have been confused about this sub being for divorced men rather than a support group for men that got cheated on then left. Yep, shamefully I can acknowledge I did cheat on my wife. Can every other man in here truthfully say they never once harmed their wife physically or emotionally? I doubt it. I'm not looking for solace, I was originally hoping for guidance. I can't begin to express the shame guilt and embarrassment I feel as a man for what I did but I promise you there's heart ache for my choice to leave because I couldn't face her. Truthfully she never asked for anything. I offered her the home, she left. Alimony? She don't want it. She's more hurt and believes she doesn't deserve a thing but what she herself earned and even that she left behind. My kids say she maintains her business, dintbeven talk to friends and comes home cares for them and doesn't say a word about any of it. I fucked up. I destroyed a good woman and that woman didn't take me for anything. So I can't believe all women are as you describe. I'm sorry for your situation buddy, but don't get so jaded you think people that cheated are emotionally void. We're not. I don't want your sympathy. I hoped to find men like me that might have redeemed themselves.

[–]Reflog1791 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My comment was not meant to attack you. Merely an observation that women have cheated just as much as men since the dawn of time. They are better at keeping it a secret. Frankly I’m happy my ex cheated because I got to divorce her with a clear conscience and my life improved. I didn’t mean to say men who cheated and go through divorce don’t need solace, only that they are much less frequent here. And of course all divorcing men are welcome to comment and your comments are appreciated. My personal opinion is that it is much harder to weather the divorce storm when wife up and cheats and you have to pay her. In my opinion and experience, there was no abuse or neglect that forced her to cheat, that’s just a media paradigm. Women who cheat are the first ones to accuse their ex of abuse so they can project victimhood and excuse their actions. You’re doing neither so you’re obviously growing.

In short, I think your road to redemption and happiness will work out just fine. Contrast that with men who are cheated and pushed to the brink of homelessness during divorce. That is a long hard road I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Nobody on this sub is innocent, I’m sure there is a mix of generally decent guys and guys who treated their wives like crap and deserved what they got but we all screwed things up at one point or another because that’s what humans do. Take everything here with a grain of salt. Just like when women post about their husbands being narcissistic abusive alcoholics there are two sides to every story and the truth is usually neither of them.

I do agree than many women will cheat on decent husbands once all of the boxes have been checked I.e wedding, house, kids etc. Personally I did a lot of things wrong but overall I was a fantastic father, good provider and an ok husband. Never once laid a hand on her or even raised my voice when we argued. In hindsight I don’t think I did enough to keep the romance alive and it died and made a lot of other mistakes. Did I deserve to get cheated on? I don’t believe so but as the previous guy mentioned all of her goals were achieved with me and there weren’t any consequences for her having an affair.

It’s good that you’ve been able to see your own mistakes and take responsibility for your actions. Hopefully we can all reflect honestly on our past failures and be better versions of ourselves moving forward.

[–]Reflog1791 23 points24 points25 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women have always cheated at the same rate as men, married or not. The narrative that men cheat more is accepted because most men are not proud that they’ve been cheated. Married women on the other hand get a juicy divorce settlement no matter what. Of course they are proud to explain why they are entitled to the cash.

Women are less likely to cheat if they are trying to bait you into marriage.

[–]21YearsofHell[S] 13 points14 points15 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don’t disagree! And neither does some of the research I posted. It carefully says “the gender gap may in part be because women are less likely to own up to cheating than men.”

[–]suwifiescubana 24 points25 points26 points 2 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Woman cheat more and they always have, because they have countless more opportunities to do so.

[–]21YearsofHell[S] 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

In the research I posted, “We don’t know if more men or more women are caught cheating, on average. But it would make sense that women are better at hiding their affairs.”

[–]suwifiescubana 25 points26 points27 points 2 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

They also have a monstrous double standard when it comes to cheating. A man in a marriage who cheats? Well she is entitled to murder him. A wife that cheats, you go girl. You're entitled to do that and he better apologize for it.

[–]21YearsofHell[S] 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“the emotional security of having a network of ‘affair friends’ who can cover for them. Women are programmed to be much more relationship and people orientated, making plans and strategies”

[–]ProcedureAltruistic3 11 points12 points13 points 2 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Women always have a reason for cheating. Men do it because they are dogs who can't control themselves. When a woman cheats people ask why. When men do it the assume they are just horny. The double standard is obvious

[–]suwifiescubana 10 points11 points12 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would suggest a significant amount of married men cheat because no matter what they do, the wife has shut down the bedroom.

[–]ProcedureAltruistic3 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This too. Sex as a weapon

[–]21YearsofHell[S] 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Reasons? “Men cheat for physical reasons, women for emotional reasons” according to a woman I trust

[–]Comfortable-Angle660 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, they both cheat for “physical reasons”, women just live to weave a tale.

[–]accountantbh 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fuck it. I'm gonna say it. The betrayal by a woman generates much more harm to a wedding and relationship than the betrayal by a man.

If the man is a multimillionaire? The woman simply ignore the affairs. They prefer to share a wealthy man than to be loyal to a poor man. Do you even consider if the genders are reversed? It's not going to happen

It is not uncommon to find a man who cheats and maintains both his wife and mistress simultaneously.

Now, a woman invests emotionally in the affair and is ready to exit the relationship, file for divorce, and pursue her affair and throw away their family for emotions and that old catch phrase: "i'm unhaaapyyyy". And I won't even get into paternity fraud here, which only happens on one side.

[–]Saulzy 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

won't even get into paternity fraud here, which only happens on one side.

True - because it is logically impossible to happen with the genders inverted. Women know what dick is entering her; unless she's literally blind but even then - there are other identifiable characteristics that could be employed using the remaining functioning senses to identify the male in question in this ridiculous scenario.

[–]chaosSlinger 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

🏅

[–]Saulzy 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is where that equality that is so sought after would apply. Equal accountability & consequence(s) for the action(s). Fuck double standards.

[–]1antinomy -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women aren’t even better at hiding it

It’s just that men are less likely to blow up their affair partner’s relationship than women are

[–]sperry55th 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Propinquity has a great deal to do with it. The exposures to temptation via the work place, little leagues, gym, PTA, social groups, LDR's, Is far greater than times past. Adultery being normalized by the entertainment and leisure time industry has played a role. The shift of demographics from the agrarian rural concentration to the cities. Changes in our value systems and attitudes. Our schools. A multitude of reasons.

There are multivariable components that contribute to the problem.

When people relearn the joy of serving, and securing the good of others, mainly their family, we will all be better off.

[–]HerbEverstanks 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

(Personal anecdote), it's also easier for the woman to cheat if the man is at work earning money to afford you the ability to cheat while she was at home with no job and no kids. She was a stay at home leech. You can trip and fall on dicks, but eventually the truth will cum out. (Stains on the couch)

[–]21YearsofHell[S] 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Sorry to hear that she did that… though at least now I understand why my ex always signed up for that expensive stain-proof treatment every time we bought new furniture.

I always thought she was a sucker for falling for the sales pitch, I now realise she was a genius….

[–]HerbEverstanks 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

That and it made me wonder why, after having a home burglary when I was out of town (and I was questioned for my involvement in it), we got an alarm system for the house, but she insisted on no cameras.

I fell for that sales pitch, but when you record yourself on your phone having sex with the AP, (then deny it, of course), you don't have a leg to stand on... She already had her own camera... lol.

But then the sales pitch was that if the photos and videos don't exist on the phone, then it never happened, right? Just because you delete photos on your phone doesn't mean they aren't still on Google photos/icloud.

These people will deny taking the cookie out of the jar when their hand is still in it. I married a small child.

Edit: It's been 40 months. She's on her 4th lawyer. The case is on the 3rd judge. We've had 4 pre trial conferences. We have had 33 "status updates". She signed an agreement, and then backed out of it in 2021. She's receiving 1.5k/mo from Ss disability. She's getting over 5.2k a month from me. Ive been ordered to keep her on my insurance, pay her phone bill and car insurance. She has no job. There are no children. Speedy trial, fairness and equity at its best. Oh and the final ruling set for tomorrow has been delayed because the judge is backed up from the previous judges lack of work. He was dis-barred for having Alzheimer's and presiding over my case for 18 months.
