My wife and I have been divorced for 3 (almost 4) weeks. It’s been hard, and painful.
We were married for about 4 years, and together for nearly 7. We didn’t have any kids or notable assets together, so it was a relatively clean ending.
That said, I’m not really sure how to move on. I’ve hung out with some girls since then (and I do mean “hung out”. No sex, not even a damn kiss).
I haven’t really been in the water for a while now (I’m also 35 now, almost 36). Been trying to focus on bettering myself outside of work. Exercise. Eating as well as I can. Looking for a second job.
But I do wonder, is moving on doomed to fail? By which I mean, is the next relationship I have going to be a painful rebound experience? Is there a way to avoid that? Be it time or something else?
The loneliness is soul crushing at times…the one friend I have is not really much help (he’s all about weed and drinking and stuff, I’m trying to improve my mental health with adhd medication and anti-depressants, but a part of me does miss weed at times. But I know it’s largely counterproductive)
I don’t know how to say “I’m okay”. Not sure if I ever really will be again?
I can’t even really count on my family because my relationship with them has become quite bitter as well (super religious, treat divorce like it’s taboo, as well as a lot of other traumatic shit from when I was young that just made me go no contact with them.)
