Been there done that. Man, she doesn't want you there......... it's her family that will never change. Get used to it now because that's your future. Sorry to be so blunt but the writing is on the wall when they start acting like that. Especially with her trying to save face in front of the kids. You have to change your thinking to what your future looks like without her. This Xmas will be brutal especially if you think it's going to be anything different than what it already is. Save your $ and effort and spoil your kids. Get her a lump of coal. Focus on being your best self and how you will take care of your littles. Its going to suck but the otherside is so much better. I wouldn’t go, fuck this “better person shit” or “suck it up man” get used to this splitting of things, what are the Christmas plans? You close enough to family to take the kids where she won’t be wanted, I know I sound petty, but it helped me center myself instead of simping (which I did for a while tbh)

Honestly, I'm not sure divorce has etiquette. If tickets are purchased and nonrefundable and you think the kids are going to enjoy it, I'd go.

"She wants to be the better person." I'm pretty sure there's a much much bigger context where she's not the best her.

This is a difficult one for sure because the children are everything. Something else to consider is what are her brother family views toward you. I’d hate for you to go with everyone having disrespectful thoughts toward you.

I get it and agree it’s all about the children but you being happy and wanted there is important too. What about letting them go and once they return doing something with the littles ones? Not sure their age but there’s a few new children friendly movies coming out, bowling, or just doing something outdoors.

Don't go. You will not be welcomed with open arms by her family and it will be a miserable time for you. Perhaps have a separate Thanksgiving dinner for you and the kids before they leave or after they get back.

Go man and be the better person it sucks but if you really want to piss her off this will do it I did t with my wife I really wanted to hate her guts but I went on a trip and was nice never said one thing bad even had a ok time but when we got home she started calling me every night then she wanted me back but I didn't want to o just wanted her to feel some pain of losing me and she did

Personally I'd go, but keep my focus on the kids. Then when you get back be sure there's nothing else like that and start working out a plan to split holidays.

With that said, if you think it will be a really bad time that makes it tougher on the kids if you're there, AND you're likely to be the bad guy with her family, just skip it.
