There is place in the universe called Earth. On Earth there is these beings called humans that are collectively referred to as humanity or humankind.

Humankind comes in all these unique shapes, sizes, colours, and other diverse set of features. There are humans that harm others and humans that heal others. No matter how narrow a set of humans, they will have diverse set of values. Even amongst the so-called bad humans, you will find those with humanity within them, the ability to change, and the potential for good. The same with the so-called good humans, where there was are those unwavering and have the potential for great evil (however you may define evil as).

Whether humanity is mostly cruel or mostly loving or mostly nuanced is a matter of where you look and what you wish to look at.

I'd say most people are themselves. Neither the abstract goodness or the abstract wickedness, but rather they are simply a human assortment of various traits that reflect either side, but rarely fall into solely extremes.
