Sorry for the clickbait title, I'll explain myself

Something I realised the other day is that confidence by itself is not an attractive trait. It is an expected trait

I've often see when people list things that are attractive one constant is confidence. Since it is often stated that it is needed to be attractive it becomes commonplace, when it becomes commonplace it then ceases to be a noteworthy trait and instead simply becomes an expectation

It's much like being nice. Being nice is expected of you and meeting expectations does not get you rewarded. Meeting basic expectations doesn't get you noticied and it doesn't make people more attracted to you

I'll give a personal annecdote. Over the past two years I've made a lot of progress building my own confidence. I used to be very insecure about who I was as a person and was suffering from suicidal ideation and anger issues everyday because of it. Now I'm much more secure and content with myself and can finally say for real that I like the person I am.

However, outside of myself there has been no other change because of that. People didn't know or care when I was at my worst, and they don't know or care now that I'm better. Nobody noticed and I'm treated the exact same as I was before. That's fairly expected considering most of it was an internal process which others could not see

So, in my opinion, confidence isn't noteworthy or attractive. This is just my perspective on the matter. I'm open to hearing different opinions on it.
