Hes a deeply cynical person. He essentially tells men "you can't be hurt by women if you expect them to hurt you".

When he talks about female nature its almost from the perspective of "you shouldn't be surprised that the tiger bit you. Tiger's bite, it's in their nature".

He takes this basic premise to dating "You shouldn't be mad that a woman tries to railroad you in a divorce. That's what they do" "You shouldn't be mad that a woman cheated on you with a better looking man. Thats what they do"

When the bar is on the floor, its impossible to fall below it. It leads to a situation where bad behavior on the part of the man is justified because hes just assuming she will do equally bad things or worse. You get to a point where you can justify cheating on your partner because "hey its only a matter of time til she finds a more 'alpha' man and trades me for him" it justified manipulating your partner and lying to them because "she will try to manipulate me, so I need to get ahead of the situation".

I'll give him the fact that you shouldn't idealize people or fall for the traps of Hollywood conceptions of love and romance(aka the term he coined 'one-itis') but he ends up just giving men who are in pain a license to take their pain out on others rather than figuring out and mending their own hearts and minds. You can't offer to host someone seeking shelter from a storm when your house doesn't have a roof on it or any heat or towels in it.

I'm not surprised if this theory is correct. Both he and his brother were in Bpd relationships and most of the tricks really only work on the personality disordered not neurotypical trust me I tried and failed miserable

I have no idea who this is, but I couldn’t imagine having a brother in law, who would kill themselves after a messy divorce. Could you imagine having to rationalize having a blood relative who’s actions lead to someone’s death like that?

Obviously it would be a very complex thing. But man does it sound deep.

I don't know, nor am I interested in his life. Although I support the idea that the 'alpha widow' thing is a projection. Studies have been shared here in the past that indicate that men remember their exes more vividly than women.

These aren't Rollo's theories. You can learn all of this by learning psychology and neuroscience. They just relabeled (hey, newspeak!) it so people thought it was theirs. Dr. Gabor does great talks on trauma if you want to learn from someone who has been spending their entire lives and dedicated careers around this.

The title begins with “THIS” in all capital letters and ends with “absolute truth.” Thus:

However, it should nonetheless be skimmed over for any notable jargon, proper nouns, or turns of phrase used repeatedly or with emphasis, to be filed in the “probably bullshit” drawer.

In re: the invitation to “discuss below”:

I honestly don’t know what the fuck you’re trying to say here. I generally recognize these things as words, and mostly ones with meanings, formed into a reasonably coherent structure, which is more than sufficient to get your participation trophy, but it doesn’t really do anything to move the truth needle off of “E” and towards “absolute” for THIS theory or that theory, let alone ThE oThEr theory. The unifying theme here seems to be that people with personality disorders have some tendency to behave like people with personality disorders at least some of the time, which is something I could be convinced is absolutely true, but again, participation trophy.

I really don’t wanna totally crap on everything, especially since I know nothing about anyone’s specific personal circumstances or lived experiences here, and I believe that good-faith positive insights are often helpful even if they later turn out to be wrong, so don’t be afraid to seek out more info from a variety of sources, or to change your mind about things later when you’ve learned more, or because you’re skeptical of expert answers that are exciting, simple, and fun. I’ll close with a well-intentioned warning to everyone, myself included: in a world where you can comprehend absolute truth, everyone else is always going to seem like a total fucking lunatic, so be careful!
