Lately there's been a lot of screenshots and posts about the perfect snappy comeback to put a guy in his place because he said something that implied his low value. While some guys should be taken down a peg every now and then, an offhand comment from someone you just met or low effort pick up line on Tinder doesn't mean you need to spend your time and energy crafting the perfect insult to feel like you got the better of him, because if that's your reaction I'm sorry but you lost. Hitting back (disproportionately) hard makes you seem fragile if anything, it makes it look like he hit a nerve without even trying. It looks like you lack confidence.
You know how you do get the better of dudes like that? Ignore them. Don't spare them a second thought. If you genuinely could not care less about this person, don't make it seem like you care by making it seem like you got mad. Leaving him on read, unmatching, blocking, all make it abundantly clear that you don't care for what he just said without you needing to get heated and waste more of your time on what you've already decided is a dead end. Save the zingers for the egregious assholes, and even then, carefully consider how much more of yourself you're okay with giving them. Even when you're trying to hurt someone, you're handing over your time, energy, and emotions just as much as if you were trying to win their affection.
Don't get flustered over someone inconsequential to your life, save that energy for yourself and people you care about. You want him to know he's wrong? Not your job, let him figure it out on his own or pay a therapist. And if you still feel the need to react like this, think about the energy you're giving off because what goes around comes around. Think about how you'd feel if you found out a potential partner snapped at women because that's how a potential partner could feel about you. I'm not saying be a doormat, but aim to be the kind of person you'd want to welcome into your own life. Rise above.
