As a woman in the creative fields I’d put down a lot of it to a connection of creativity with bad mental health being down to a sensitive temperament, as well as the increasingly low pay and high living costs putting pressure on everyone. I’d also add that there are plenty of “girlbosses” working in very corporate fields and saying the exact same stuff on their social media platforms. Lib feminism has infiltrated all parts of society and I think it’s popularity is because it doesn’t pose a threat to the patriarchy as it doesn’t require men to change, so Lib fems are the ones being promoted and funded, in creative fields or corporate ones.

Interestinggggg thread. Bouncing off of another commentor (and basically saying the same thing she said) liberal feminism is infesting us at both a creative and corporate level. It's the "safe" feminism that doesn't allow men to reflect on their wrongdoings so that's going to be the most popular kind.

The views I'm seeing from women over mental health lately in this sub is kind of odd. I hope another commenter can put it into words for me.

However it’s also a competitive field where you are competing for attention, which is why many of them are so boisterous online. They get off on ‘breaking taboos’ and rebelling against norms.

As mentioned in the article above, there is also a toxic culture in creative industries that promotes ‘suffering’ and ‘mental torture’ to create art.

Unfortunately this leads to lots of spoiled brats giving themselves mental illnesses so they can boast about them online and romanticise their suffering.

Which is why liberal feminists often romanticise their abuse online, whether through poetry, music or art. Because it grabs attention.

Creative people are also highly employed by mainstream media who want to communicate their ideas more visually and grab attention.

Not only this but creative people are visual communicators by nature, which means they can easily spread their edge lord ‘sex work is work’ rhetoric in the digital realm, by posting illustrations and graphics on Instagram.

This is most likely why liberal feminism has gained so much clout on social media.

Because much of the younger generation have shorter attention spans due to growing up in tik tok Instagram culture….so unless you go reading copious books on media propaganda, women’s history & feminism…..it’s easy for them to assume liberal feminism is the only kind, since it’s the most prominent on social media.

A lot of the new popular feminist books being marketed on Instagram are written by liberal feminists for this reason.

Which means we need more creative types to spread alternate logic online.

No, and the reasons those fields are so damaging is because of the influence of men in them. Remember, even in female dominated fields, men are still the vast majority of leaders and top salaries employees
