I actually tried to be libfem. I tried to embrace other people's sexual choices, even though I personally (and somewhat secretly) did not practice or approve of casual sex or open relationships for myself. "Feminism means supporting all women's choices!", I kept telling myself. Little did I know it was all a male lie being sold to me as "feminism" and "choice shaming". I was the "old-fasioned prude" who was stuck in the "old patriarchy". So much gaslighting.

I'm so glad that my instincts were proven right by FDS, and what I thought were glaring faults were actually strengths in my character. Whenever I deviated from these principles that aligned with FDS, that just coincidentally screwed up my life in glaringly obvious ways where I was taken advantage of 100% (in hindsight). I'm going to straight up say sticking to these FDS-like principles in my life have actually saved my life on a couple occasions in situations regarding men.

"Radical feminism" sounds scary, yes. You can never escape dangerous men who are intent on harming, but you can learn to spot them, avoid, and warn others.

Yes! I came to this conclusion on my own a few years ago. Nobody says "everyone is a genius" or "everyone is an athlete" because it isn't true. Saying "everyone is beautiful" might come from a good place but it still reinforces how important it is to be beautiful.

I work on science shows and try to inspire women to get into science and this encapsulates my feelings exactly. I just wish more women knew they were worth so much more than their appearance, be they models or not.

I love this. I feel like I needed to dismantle the idea of “pretty and valuable” or “ugly and not valuable” because they went hand in hand. Now it’s, I don’t care if I look pretty bc I’m valuable but cool if my hair/outfit/eyebrows are on point right now.

I close every single yoga class I teach with, "The light within me recognizes & honors the light within you." And according to Dictionary.com, one definition of beautiful is 'of a very high standard, excellent'. So, yes. I do believe all women can be beautiful. And it has nothing to do with our bodies.

If I should chose for a future imaginary daughter to be either very beautiful OR very intelligent, the second option would be much better for her. Of course beauty could make her life more easy, it could make people treat her better, but with intelligence she will be better at seeing through other people's bullshit, she will be better able to learn everything necessary and build a life that SHE is in control of, and maybe even create value for herself and others. Power and any kind of influence that comes from beauty is only second- hand power, it depends of other people's perception of you. With intelligence she can learn to use everything she has to be independent, create and live on her terms more independent from others.

Even not beautiful people (especially women) can be pleasant by caring for themselves and by their charm, so she will be fine if she is not conventionally attractive but has the chance to develop self-esteem. BUT if she lacks intelligence but is beautiful... well, we all know where this might end. A woman needs to be clever and have self- confidence before everything else. Only patriarchy benefits from women being beautiful but stupid. That males even find this so attractive is ridiculousness and pathetic (especially since boys inherit their intelligence from the mothers side).
