Reddit behave like men paying for a date is such a rarity. I’ve had men pay for me to stay in expensive hotels (alone, they didn’t stay with me), just so I can hang out with them. They still don’t seem to understand that the man paying for the meal is about effort, not financial exploitation. We, as women, want to see effort and investment from the men who take us out, because this seems to be lacking in the relationship world.

Agree with you. It’s sad to me that men don’t want to be romantic. But unlike men, we aren’t entitled and that’s partially why fds pushes financial independence so much.

I would rather a guy be upfront about not paying. We aren’t compatible, better not to waste time. A lot of men pay for first dates begrudgingly. No thanks. I want a man who enjoys being generous with me, not one who pretends for a couple dates.

It’s literally the most BASIC rule of dating. If a man asks you out, it’s expected that he’s going to show you a good time and wants to impress you. On the last first date I went on before lockdown, the man sent me flowers (we work in the same building) and showed up with expensive perfume as a gift. He also paid for my Uber ride home.

And men expect women to split a $50 dinner bill?? Sounds like a waste of time

One guy I was talking to online wanted me to go on a date, but premised it with the fact that “all women are after a free meal” so he wouldn’t be paying. Bitch, please. I laughed him right out of my DMs.

So I see a LOOOOT of men complain about it online.. It's the primary complaint about FDS and they constantly say they's never date a women like that. But then NOBODY has ever asked me to split. I never offer either unless it's a serious relationship and I decide I want to treat him. I've been on a ton of dates too.
