US President Biden has proposed a $2 trillion dollar infrastructure plan, which intends to focus on and expand public transit as part of the effort to tackle climate change.

And the first thing I thought was, “More women are going to be attacked on public transportation.”

Climate change is an absolute crisis. Decreasing car pollution is a necessity. That’s not up for debate. Men’s violence on public transportation is also not up for debate.

Women are not safe in public spaces, because men are there. Also, my cursory thought, my fear for women, when I read about public transit expansion would never occur to the average man. Especially a white man. Because the majority just doesn’t concern itself with marginalized groups, who are more vulnerable to violence and verbal harassment.

So I want to know what Biden plans to do to keep people safe from other people on this expanded public transportation. And by “other people,” I mean “men.”

Tell me how people are going to be protected from men, who have the freedom to celebrate climate change advocacy without fearing for their personal safety.

Tell me how. Because I’m tired of women having to solve problems created by men. I’m so fucking tired.
