I'm so glad to see this stupid "advice" called out. Not everything is a problem that can or should be solved by talking it out. Quite often it's a man showing a woman who he is and and the woman needing to make a smart choice about staying or going.

This really opened my eyes when I was much younger. My then-boyfriend was a nice enough guy but also wasn't often physically affectionate outside sex, he never planned dates or any kind of nice outings for us, rarely spent his free time on me, generally took me for granted while I put a lot into the relationship. I could have talked to him about it all, sure, but at the end of the day he wasn't doing that stuff of his own volition and that in itself was enough for me to decide that I couldn't stay. I don't want to have to ask my boyfriend to hold my hand, cuddle me, find a nice place to take me to dinner, look up events to go to together, or whatever other really basic couple stuff. Him doing it just because I asked would totally defeat the purpose. A lot of men simply do not want to put in this kind of basic effort, use initiative, think deeply about someone other than themselves, etc. It's not up to women to guide them through the steps of being a good partner! The bar is on the ground.
