Some female mantises wait until the deed is done - but plenty of them start eating the male during copulation. How about Circe? She's a witch and minor goddess from greek mythology. She had her own island, and one day, the ship of the famous hero Odysseus was lured on the island by her singing. But because they were disrepectful as hell to her to her after she offered them food , she slipped a potion in it to turn most of the crew into swine.

She's generally portrayed as a villain, I wonder why... /s

I think that would be a good hint at both the venus fly traps nature, and also to FDS in some way? It's more subtle than what you originally had in mind, and I think it sounds somewhat classy.
