During covid, I experienced a glow up in that I got much fitter..losing a few extra lbs of fat and improving my endurance. When I returned to my small fitness studio, only one perv made a comment about my physique but otherwise I was met with blank stares. One guy critiqued me all the time so I told him to stop speaking to me rather than politely laughing it off, which the old me would do.

Our lead trainer started insulting me and saying I don’t try hard enough because I do not lift enough weight (I can lift more than most men, I just see no point in lifting beyond 200 lbs and its not in line with my fitness or physique goals, and I told him that). Recently in front of a whole group, he commented on my lack of effort (fyi I told the fasted mile time record there). I notice not really nice glances from others too. A few nice fellows have told me they noticed how hard I have been working and commended me...but the vast majority of people treat me like I am invisible.

I know their opinions and comments don’t matter. But damn, it sucks. My gym was always my refuge and I honestly feel like my improvement has resulted in me being hated on and facing negativity. I never experienced this before and I have been at this gym for 2 years.

I figure as we women gain confidence, improve and are unapologetic about it, we will face haters. What are some things you ladies use to remind yourselves that this just comes with the territory?
