Hold yourself in a confident way while exuding soft femininity? Sounds exhausting!

How does this posturing benefit you? What’s wrong with your fine ass glorious self as is? And besides, why is the performance of femininity a thing anyways?

Lots and lots of ways to gain ease of grace in your own body if that’s what you’re asking here. Conformity to a mythical, gendered stereotype may not be the answer (but of course, you do you).

Many women feel awkward- it’s the baked in fear to all the image messages society and corporations use to control our behavior and sell us stuff. Something to think on imo.

What I’ve noticed helped me was taking up dancing. I took up partner dance classes and I really enjoy Latin dance. For one : you learn how to move your body, specifically your hips and arms more smoothly. Then it is a very sensual dance so it really connects you to your inner feminine energy. And it’s always nice to get male attention (esp. if you have any attractive men in your class 😉). I also really enjoy belly dance. I recommend looking for content online, I really like DanceWithRasa and Sahira Belly Dance.

If you’re not a fan of dance: yoga and topstretching are popular now.

You might think it’s counterintuitive, but moving inside a dance class creates new muscle memory for the way you are supposed to move your body. And you can carry those movements out to the world. I find that now after monthes of classes, I can walk with more freedom in my hips and shoulders and with better posture.

I think this is ultimately about you not feeling comfortable with yourself. Renee Wade has some good advice on this (I know she is a controversial figure here).

Listen to music you like. Dance by yourself at home. take a long bubble bath and luxuriate in it. Look in the mirror, look at your curves and how beautiful and womanly you are.

Unlike some people here, I don't think femininity is a bad or weak thing for women. We ARE women, femininity is intrinsic in us. A woman who is truly in touch with herself is very very very powerful. Not all woman are super feminine, and that's 100% ok. But most women tend to be more feminine than men are, and being in touch with yourself unlocks that feminine power. It's not weakness. A feminine woman who is strong and in touch with herself will not settle for something not worth her time. She will place boundaries. She will not go along with something she is not comfortable with. she will not be afraid to speak up if she feels offended or maligned. She is not afraid to leave a man if he's not giving her what she needs. She is in touch with her emotions, she doesn't stuff them down and pretend everything's ok.

Exuding is overrated. First of all, you're talking about the gender that yells unintelligible things out of car windows at anything with a ponytail. Do you really think you have to try that hard?

Just be yourself. Not everything needs to be soft and sweet, that's how people get diabetes.

I've noticed you can pretty much be perceived as super feminine no matter what your personality is if you dress the type. I personally think femininity has almost everything to do with how you dress and not as much as one's personality as you think.

Fun fact, if you’re a woman (and I’m assuming you are since men aren’t allowed to post in this sub) you’re already feminine and exude it by merely existing! Watching videos and reading books isn’t really gonna help because you’ll just be trying to imitate something you’re not. Be yourself, it seems like what you really need is to learn to be comfortable within yourself. Get to know yourself and I guarantee that once your happy with your self and aren’t trying to be someone you’re not people will be drawn to you. We can all sense when someone isn’t being genuine and it’s off putting.

I feel like this is the sort of thing you can’t force or it’ll look super unnatural and over the top. Working on your posture (back exercises and mindfulness) and maaaaaaybe looking at how models walk might be helpful. I’ve seen videos of VS models practicing their runway walk on a treadmill with their heels on. They look gorgeous and fluid and that’s probably something that can come with practice without looking too forced.

Honestly though, I’ve too been told by people that I’m cold, rigid, reserved, etc. And actually felt super masculine as an insecure teenager. But a few years ago, I saw a video of myself interviewing some one once I was honestly super surprised at how feminine my hand gestures are without even trying. Maybe if you can record yourself doing mundane tasks while relaxed, that might help you see if those people are actually right? You might surprise yourself.

I know this post is old but consider 1.Dance classes can help you feel more more aware and in control of your body. 2. Wardrobe makeover. Do some research on your desired style aesthetic. Evaluate your hair, makeup routine. Do you do your nails regularly.

Unpouplar opinion: be very careful with the femininity community online. Including Shera and Ana Bey. Most of these women are not living the lives they swear you'll have if you follow their advice.

Ask yourself why you don't feel feminine and what you think needs to be changed, and go from there. Chances are you just haven't cultivated a personal style and confidence. Changing your personality sounds like a losing game to me.
