By “Everyone”, they mean men. It’ll be better for men.

Anytime dating is described in positive terms, it means the lowest effort, weakest-willed men are benefitting. I don’t endorse anything that benefits them. Dating is exhausting, degrading, demoralizing, and dangerous for women. It is not the least bit enjoyable if you actually want marriage.

Should be titled "How to get used as a sentient fleshlight"

The entire dating advice/coaching industry relies on convincing the collective of straight women that we need to eliminate our standards and make things as easy as possible for men. And if men hurt us, it’s always our fault. Dating advice is usually predatory and anti-woman. Why get a real job when you can set up a blog or webcam and solicit women who have survived sexual assault, domestic violence, and emotional abuse to pay you to shit on them for simply trying to find a man who will love them, while attempting to protect themselves from being abused again? None of these people are trained psychologists or sociologists. Just communications majors in button up shirts and blazers. I cannot wait until that bubble bursts like real estate in 2009.

This is 💯 facts, thank you sis. I feel like it could even be a whole separate post; about the con that the “dating advice” industry is.

Yeah... Nah.

So my fiancé and father of my beautiful daughter, asked me out first. It just doesn’t happen the other way around.

Okay so, question. I understand why it’s a good idea to let men initiate planning dates, but what’s so bad about us making the first move? I’ve found that I get more attractive, interesting dates when I suss them out myself, and they tend to be perfectly happy being alone, while the dudes who approach me are often desperate, lonely, and not my type physically. Plus, I can insist on them planning on the first date whether I initiate contact or not, and if they’re low-effort/interest/value I can just walk away. Could just be my inner pickme talking, thanks in advance for the insight.

How do you know a man is really interested in you if you are the one making the first move? I feel like some single men would say yes to any woman making the first move because they think they will get laid ... Idk

[–]shockingupdateFDS Newbie 43 points44 points45 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How could anyone not be interested in THIS? /s But you’re right though. I just got done laughing at that post where a dude basically texted two pages of wedding vows to a stranger. As much as I’d like to just open with honesty, they really will accept any pussy that’ll have them.

[–]NetflixBingeQueenFDS Newbie 63 points64 points65 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You’re the Prize. Simple as that. You present yourself for HVM to approach you. HVM will know to and won’t want you to be the one initiating. Men are too easy and too plenty to be given that treatment. They will also have it in the back of their mind that you approached them first. Lastly, if he approaches you, you won’t have to be insisting on him planning the date either.

I would like to hear from other HVW here who have approached a HVM successfully though!

Oof...this thread is definitely food for thought. I’ve definitely been the “convenient” woman after seeking a dude out myself but figured it was a one-off

Men value those who are hard to get. Throwing yourself at men will make you a second option and a placeholder, a woman he will turn to when his more priority options won't take him

Okay so, question. I understand why it’s a good idea to let men initiate planning dates, but what’s so bad about us making the first move?

1) Men value what they have to work for. Working hard for that promotion, training for a marathon, saving up to buy a house... Studies have proven that a man falls in love when he has to invest in a woman. Approaching a woman and asking her out on a date means he has to make an effort from the outset. Serving yourself up on a platter for him has removed any ounce of work or effort he has to put into winning you over. Men are hardwired to pursue and a HVM will enjoy courting you.

2) Men (correctly) know that women have options. If a woman is approaching a man, he's (subconsciously) going to wonder what is wrong with her, because surely a woman of value is going to have plenty of suitors lining up to ask her out? Highly desirable women don't need to go around asking men out on dates. By letting a man approach and pursue, your perceived value goes up and he will assume he has competition and it will keep him on his toes.

3) LVM will say yes to a woman approaching them because they won't turn down an easy supply of sex. Asking a man out will also signal to a LVM that you're prepared to do all the work in the relationship, so don't expect him to initiate or plan anything. You're setting the tone from Day 1 and essentially giving him carte blanche to take a backseat for the duration of the relationship.

4) If he wanted to ask you out, he would.

If he was interested in you, he would have already asked you out.

Agreed. I will never make the first move, but a former coworker who I grew to be close friends with and eventually became someone I’m currently dating started showing me signs of liking me long before. He said he would have never admitted it because he didn’t want to burden me with his feelings or make me uncomfortable in any way (I had escaped a previous abusive relationship, distrusted men and still do and dealing with trauma, and was extremely stressed with contract work while also having second part time job and full time student, I didn’t have time for a relationship) but was always proving his helpfulness in any way possible. I do want a man who has a plan and take reigns and do the larger portion of work in the relationship, and so far he has done so.

So while I first interrogated him “You like me and it’s obvious, tell me why you haven’t admitted it” he started shaking with nervousness and said “Yes but I didn’t want to burden you with my feelings or make you feel uncomfortable in any way.”

I wouldn’t ever ask a man out because I think men should be active pursuers, ambitious, and discerning risk-takers, because it’s also good qualities that translate into their career. My boyfriend also knows that financial stability to me is very important and I straight up told him that I am a gold digger LOL. He pays for all the dates and gas and etc. Whatever I desire he will make it happen.

I think the term “If he really wanted to, he would” is a term I SWEAR by...

but! I think men with high value characteristics are extremely keen to want to make you feel comfortable. He knew I was extremely distrustful of men, that I wanted stability, and I was perfectly happy with being by myself (still am and always will be) so he took his time and effort and hoped that his actions would speak louder and that trust and affection would be reconsidered and earned. Had he asked me out earlier then I would’ve most certainly rejected him. That’s just my 2 cents.

Men do not appreciate anything that comes easy to them. I’m not saying that easy as in promiscuous, but easy as in you do all the relationship lifting. Unlike women, men will have sex with and string along women they don’t care for because it suits them. If you do all the work, you are more likely to end up with one of these guys that doesn’t actually care and is only in it for the sex and other benefits.

[–]staywiththecrownFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've made the first move ever since I started dating. It doesn't work. It's shocking, but men will date and even marry women they don't want or even like for the convenience. The guys I dated had a devoted Cool Girl who gave them sex on a platter. I had a few guys even dump me because "they found someone they really wanted to date"; others talked about how clingy and desperate I was while hitting me up for low effort dates.

Don't ask them out first. It's not worth it. 😕

[–]shockingupdateFDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. Men are exhausting. T__T We have to be on the lookout for laziness/cruelty in all of them right out the starting gate, huh

[–]KristeninmyskinFDS Apprentice 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you all realize how many woman’s magazines are out there spewing crappy dating advice? You don’t see any men’s magazines out there with articles like “The fastest way to her heart!”

If they did, they would be called “Shortcuts to her pants”
