I tend to always say things like, "Oh I wish I could go to this restaurant on a date someday" or "Wouldn't ... be so romantic!?"

For example, I've always wanted to go on a really good mall date where the other person engages with the conversation and we have fun but I think I'm going to start going on dates with myself.

I think I'm going to try going on a picnic in the park all by myself and make food that I know I'll love. Put on that cute little sundress and twirl~

Or maybe, as winter approaches, go see the town's light display on a romantic walk with some hot chocolate and comfy clothes.

Maybe a night in with movies, comfy blankets, and popcorn.

I don't know. Am I just sad or pathetic? Like, if I tried to have a conversation with myself, I'd look crazy. I've always wanted someone to ask my opinions about the lights or the movie, but I can't really do that on a self-date. If I went on that picnic, would I enjoy it or would I feel overly-conscious about what other people think?

Dating sounds fun, but in the past people have just stayed silent/reserved or stayed depressed the whole time or used me for money.

I want to learn to love myself. Treat myself how I feel I deserve to be treated. After so long facing disappointing prospects, I fear that I might settle because, in a room full of tin, bronze can look like gold.

What do you think? I'm new to this subreddit. Any advice? Am I doing this right? (20yo about to hit 21)
