I got myself a ring bc I broke up with my ex and he would always say that he would only marry me after I got a degree and that was years down the line. Not that weird of a requirement but it's the fact that he pissed all over my initial ambitions and didn't understand my mental illness and traumas and just didn't add anything to my life. just took took took. Also he started dating me on my senior year of HS and he was a Junior in college who had his life together bc his dad passed and left him everything, while I was struggling alone in a different country with no family. I need constant reminders that I am worthy of love and respect bc not even that he could give me, let alone effort and financial things.
