Okay, so I’m pretty new here and this is my first post so forgive me if I sound like a mess but recently I had a talk with my best friend that left me thinking...

I told her that I could imagine spending the rest of my life with her or any other women for that matter, as the thought of seeing her every day or seeing her at her worst (sick, crying, stinky) doesn’t bother or scare me. She’s a person I love and respect and that I‘d take a bullet for.

Then it dawned on me that I could never imagine caring for a sick man, sitting next to him holding his hand while he cries or is „mimicking“ any other human emotion. Because I feel like men for me aren’t even real people, they’re aliens that are either a fantasy that I obsess over so I can have them or they are the enemy that I despise.

It’s like I only have two reactions to men, either I project all my desires and dreams onto them and chase them like a crazy person or their mere presence disgusts me. I have no male friends. I find it difficult to hear them talk if I’m not attracted to them.

How can I ever find a meaningful relationship, love and connection and all that jazz, like with my best friend, if men to me are a like a foreign species that I don’t respect?

It’s a really scary thought and maybe you can help me make a little bit more sense out of it. I found this forum and the handbook very helpful so far because I can understand and identify with the ideology but I fear that I’m not emotionally ready/capable if I can’t resolve this personal issue...
