He’s had a crush on me since we were both in middle school. Over 10 years later, we’re still “friends” because he’s so persistent. I’ve told him that I just wanted to be friends.

In the beginning (back in HS), he’d send me presents and write me letters. Now, he’s unemployed and lived at home (but about to start nursing school) and I have a corporate job with a $60k salary. It feels like he’s keeping tally to try to make up for the gifts he gave me in the past (items I didn’t want but felt guilty for not accepting).

Last week, he asked me if I wanted to grab sushi from a nice restaurant with him, eat at his place, and then see a college friend of his. I agreed because he’d been asking me for weeks and weeks. I thought he’d order online and I’d pick up the food (he doesn’t have a driver’s license). He even asked for my order via text and said “order ANYTHING you like”, but at the very last minute, he asked me to order. I was annoyed because I was extremely busy with work that afternoon and he hasn’t worked since covid hit so he could at least take the time to order, but I did it anyway - it was $100 worth of sushi (his order was $65). I went to pick up the sushi and went over to his back patio and found that his mom had put a vase of flowers on the table where we’d eat. What was worse was that he kept on talking about how he works out a lot, has lost 50 pounds, is tan, and is now attractive.

He gave a noncommittal answer after his mom said, “Son, you paid her back right?” Afterward, I drove him to see his female friend from college (he’d been begging me for MONTHS) who’s an ex-stripper with kids. His parents forbid him to see her because she’s a “bad girl”, and I later found out that he told them that he was “going for a drive aka on a date” with me, which was why he’d also put on cologne. He also gave his friend a bunch of presents and a letter. He also mentioned to her that he’s lost a lot of weight and how his BMI is “normal” given his height, which he exaggerated @ 5’10”. I couldn’t help but inwardly scoff because my dad is a true 5’10” and is half a head taller than him. I’m 5’7” and he’s at the most one inch taller than me. If he’s 5’10”, then I must be 5’9”.

Is this a LVM? He’s been nice to me in the past, but pretty much everything he forced on to me (letters, gifts, home baked goods) were stuff I didn’t want. His “close friend” whom he begged me to drive him to see didn’t seem to know him that well. He also talks a ton about his other “friends”, most of whom are very attractive women.
