Unless your circumstances require legal action, consider how important it may be to save yourself the trouble of communicating.
Upon discovering that my ex busied himself with infidelity during our relationship, I grew a feeling of rage: it scratched me up from the inside, eager to get out. Then, there were no means of interaction or further contact left with my ex or his friends.
However, the ugly truth, the infidelity put my well-curated silence and absence in their lives at risk: so many times, I questioned if I should speak up and finally let them know that I am no longer blind to what they did.
I had to stop myself and take the time to re-evaluate the necessity of what I wanted to do. In the end, I kept my silence with no remorse. I realized that:
• Unless legally necessary, silence does not equate to absence of power. In fact, it means the opposite.
• Low value people talk: they enjoy gossip, drama, and the like. Eventually, the truth will come out, if not already.
• Low value people will talk about you, too — remember, their interpretations are their own only.
• Never bother yourself with the opinions of people with poor judgement and character.
• Bruised ego needs nurturing — giving into rage (hurt) or self-sabotage will only produce trauma.
• Silence and solitude, in moments when your support network is unavailable or absent, are your window of opportunity for deep reflection.
• Maturity means concision in your words, actions, and intentions. Anything that is loud or restless, by default, signals lack of integrity and/or emotional intelligence.
Remember this when you make decisions. Once, a guy I was briefly talking to, said: “To other people, I do not have any problems”. No one, unless trusted and proving HV, deserves to know what you think, are up to, or concerned about.
Move on with grace: move in silence.
