A long time ex once tried this with me. We were having a fight about something and I turned around and started walking away a few steps when he suddenly grabs my waist from behind and tries to hold and tickle me for whatever fucked up reason. I was so startled in that moment I kind of lashed out with my arm and hit him in the nose. It (unfortunately) wasn't broken, but bleeding and he had the audacity to be mad at me.

Just recently I firsthand witnessed the second tactic. I was in a bus and a young couple sat in the seat in front of me. The woman was clearly upset with the guy about something. At first he tried to dismiss her by kissing and cuddling her. She then burst into tears and the guy started negging her for it. I too have endured this shitty behaviour but I never understood the scope of it. Witnessing this from observational point of view made me clearly see the crazy making this guy was using against this poor girl.

Eventually the girl disconnected from herself and calmed down not pursuing further.

The guy assured to comfort her whilst getting out of the bus by patting her on the bum.

I was horrified.
