I don't have any interest in being with a man. My life experience to date has taught me they are far too selfish, they cost me time and money, they're abusive and then when they're bored they simply leave.

Getting over my fear of being alone has been one of the best things to ever happen to me.

I used to worry that I must be undesirable or unlovable if I wasn’t in a relationship or being pursued/pursuing one. Once you realize you’re already whole by default and everyone else‘s love is just a cherry on top, rather than a requirement to exist happily, you can finally have equal relationships instead of trying to compensate for imagined shortcomings with another person’s approval.

This goes for friends and family members, too. I was venting to my parents about an awful experience I had the other day where a customer's ~10 year old son touched my ass. My mom started lecturing me about what I should have done and what I should have said and my dad made jokes ("Did you get his number?"), which my mom failed to call him out on. I'm going to be distancing myself from them because trying to rely on them for emotional support has literally never worked, not once in my entire life, and I shouldn't have to educate my own goddamn parents on how to treat their daughter right.

I'm also in the process of phasing out most of my friends. Some of them are honestly too young and too immature for me to tolerate anymore (I don't even know if I want to fill a big sister role for them from a distance because they respond with such blatant hostility whenever anyone calls them out on their crap) and another one who I thought had a lot of potential turned out to be a shitty person (I was overlooking her drama llama ways and then she tried to get me to have a threesome with her and her fiance).

I do feel lonely right now but ultimately this is better for my emotional wellbeing than continuing to tolerate people in my life who aren't treating me right. I'd ended up setting myself on fire to keep them warm. If your relationships aren't reciprocal, if your energy isn't being met and you're not getting back what you're putting in, get rid of those relationships. Become your own best friend and vet anyone you let into your life.

Getting out of my situationship has been such a relief. I feel so relaxed and at peace finally. My headaches and migraines stopped. My life is totally stress free, if somewhat boring. But I'm now in a place where I'll take boring over drama any day.
