This is so close to the abuse I recently left. I'm on week 2 of being at the DV shelter and my daughter and I are absolutely blooming. I left a message for her in case she wanted to talk to a recent escaper. Edit: if she does talk to me I won't share her info but I'll let you all know she's alive

Situations like this are why I’m convinced porn addiction in a relationship is just one aspect of domestic violence. I’m convinced any man who has this “habit” is capable of far worse behavior, including sexual assault and physical violence.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. I hope she can stay away. It’s concerning that the focus is on the porn though - even if he stopped watching porn he’d still be a violent abuser. I know when in an abusive relationship it’s easy to focus on one thing because the larger picture is so horrific, though.

This fucking sucked to read—and what’s worse? There’s males on reddit and elsewhere who literally get off to this 🤢🤬. Men need to prove to us they are not demons, for real, their hatred and capacity for violence are unparalleled. Men like this deserve to be taken out in similar fashion by bigger and stronger men. Maybe then they’d understand. I hope she and her son can stay away and find happiness one day—she deserves so much more and so does the child.

I am so so sorry to hear that. Your heart may feel like it’s breaking but you’re mourning “what could have been” and not “what is”. And that “what could have been” could be with another man who treats you and your child like an equal, with love, care and respect. Your husband will never do that (even if he may have done it in the past).

I am so proud of you for getting a plan in place, I wouldn’t give him anymore notice or clues as to you leaving as that could make things difficult for you and he may try and stop you. Get your things in order quietly whilst he is separate from you watching his porn (or whatever he’s doing). And make a quick and clean escape when your sister gets there. Don’t allow any debate/argument.

As someone who got out of an abusive relationship I thought I was breaking my heart own by leaving, but actually I was doing the one thing that could save it and myself. There are greater things waiting for you

I dated a narcissistic guy and I wonder if the men that physically abuse their partners are narcissistic, since narcissistic people start with the verbal abuse and later go over to physical abuse. The fact that she thinks him kicking her in the ribs isn't so bad is heartbreaking, she's normalized the abuse. Fuck men

Ladies, one thing I have learnt in this life, if you ever date a man who has shown you they can abuse you. Please leave! You can get crippled or disabled. Please gather all your balls and just leave forget about your feelings if they get in the way.
