This is exactly how groomers/pimps operate. They send 'hey beautiful' to thousands of women and wait for those few women who respond back with 'oh you really think so? (or something to that effect). There's no better indicator of your vulnerability/low self-esteem than taking bait from a complete stranger.

100%! If it isn't embarrassingly manipulative and earnest, it'll be a "joke" that they can hide behind and hope you're cool enough to play along with. Last year I got an "anon" email on Valentine's Day from my awful narc ex that I had blocked. The subject was "Be mine..." and the body read "Happy Valentine's, [insert only a nickname he would use]", from a cringe pun-based email only he would find funny. At first I felt sick and uncomfortable, but then it felt like a win to just file it into junk.

I literally blocked every male in my phone yesterday. I decided I am tired of wasting my time on low effort men. I was free last weekend and this one and let it be known. I left them on read after various “oh what are you doing with your free time” bs. I guess I was supposed to be the one to plan something? I figured I would save myself the annoyance of receiving bs texts today and just blocked! I am cooking my favorite meal today, some light cleaning and starting a new book. Happy Valentine’s Day ladies!

my favorite NVM hit me up at 2:30 last night with a "lol hi". gave me great pleasure to leave him on read and not respond. fuck that noise. i hate blocking people because i love knowing when they come crying back, which they always do.

Ugghh, mine showed up to my house with shitty looking flowers and gave them to my 9 yr old son...he comes to me half proudly/half confused and said, “[ex] said to tell you these are from me”.
THEN he texts me asking if we can go to lunch to talk about our plans and goals and whatever we need to do...I’m like I’m not going on a date with you, what the hell? He said it’s just lunch...ON VALENTINE’S DAY??? Do you really think I’m that stupid? Oh and of course he thought he was all good because he already “apologized” for the “one time he hurt me”. I said some pretty harsh things after that but wish I had just dropped the conversation, it was a total waste of time and I was upset/triggered for hours. Thanks to FDS I see very clearly what he was trying to do.

YES. I was going to make a whole post about the audacity of this (just because YOU’RE lonely, why am I suddenly obliged to talk to you?) but I see it’s already covered. This is someone who just got out of a long term relationship and so has decided I’m the one he’s going to use his passive aggressive tactics for attention on. So it’s helping me remember that these are the types of guys women are in long term relationships WITH - aka the grass is not always greener and the more I interact with men the more I’m happy to be alone.

Y’all, apparently there’s a glitch because a message came through despite being blocked. It said (I don’t know if you’re in a mood but Happy Valentine’s Day pretty lady). I’m a bit ticked off and started to go off on him but I simply responded “ It was nice getting to know you but I don’t feel a connection between us and rather not continue to text and chat as friends”. His response “ that’s so messed up but I’ll respect it” 🙄🙄🙄
